    Highlands Park leapfrog Sundowns on top of the GDL

    Highlands Park u19 leapfrog Mamelodi Sundowns on top of the GDL after a win away against School of Excellence.

    The lion of the north team has been in good form in their last five games . A 2-1 win against School of Excellence has moved Highlands Park to the top with 44 points in 18 games.

    Highlands Park will look to make a statement in their next game when they host Remember Elite Sports Academy. 

    Lions of the North are top by two points from Mamelodi Sundowns who played a draw against Panorama FC.

    Mamelodi Sundowns moved to 42 points in 18 games.

    In other Gauteng Development games, Randburg AFC held Kaizer Chiefs to a  0-0 draw.

    Northern Academy flies the high for Limpopo during the Waterstone College Super Cup

    Northern Academy u19 have been crowned the Champions of Waterstone College tournament after defeating Waterstone College u19 1-0.

    Northern Academy from Limpopo have put the province onto the top

    Northern Academy won all their six games in the tournament. On the road to the final they scored more than 1 goal a game.

    First game they played Meridian Cosmo City and won the game by 9-1, second game they defeated Curro Aurora 4-1, third game they defeated kings school 2-0.In the semifinals they defeated Meridian  Pinehurst 2-1. 

    They went all the way to defeat the host Waterstone College 1-0 in an entertaining  final.

    One of the promising players Koketso Monyama was awarded the most valuable player of the tournament after the young boy had a fantastic tournament. The teenager also scored a beautiful goal in the final to ensure the victory for his side as they defeated the host team. 

    Northern Academy coach Mr Hendrik Mukwevho said it was not easy to win the cup but with God everything is possible. He also praised his players for working hard and believing in themselves.

    Glenwood crowned KZN Coastal champions

    Glenwood High School have been crowned champions of KwaZulu-Natal Schools coastal football league after a 4-3 victory in penalty shoot-out against Port Shepstone.

    Before the match begins both teams observe a moment of silence to late former Bafana Bafana Afcon winning coach Clive Barker. The only South African coach to win Afcon in 1996.

    Glenwood boys dominated the first half but Port Shepstone keeper was producing brilliant saves to keep his team in the game.

    The game went deadlock 0-0 at halftime as both teams could not find the net.

    The second half saw Port Shepstone take the game to Glenwood but the keeper was doing the same as the opposite keeper by making brilliant saves.

    After 90 minutes of intense finals both teams could not find the back of the net on regular time all thanks to both keepers of these teams by putting in brilliant performances.

    Ultimately Glenwood High school went on to win the game in sudden death penalty shoot-out 4-3.

    The two teams when they last met in the group Port Shepstone won 3-2 but Glenwood got sweeter revenge in the final. 

    Speaking to SuperSport Schools news after the game Glenwood playmaker Sanele Mthembu said “he is happy by finally winning the league after losing in the final on numerous occasions.”

    Mamelodi Sundowns u19 still on top in the GDL

    Mamelodi Sundowns u19  is a team on fire in the Gauteng Development League this season as they are still on top of the standings coming to the 17th round of fixtures.

    Mamelodi Sundowns u19 thrash Siluma  9-0 on Sunday with Mthethwa  producing one of best performances of the season.

    The 9-0 victory over Silima 7 meant ‘Kabo Yellow’ remained on top of the log standings with 38 points in 15 games.

    Sundowns are just three points above Highlands Park and School of Excellence.

    Highlands Park and School of Excellence will be hoping to topple log leaders Sundowns who have one defeat.

    Mamelodi Sundowns u19 will be trying to emulate their senior side who have won the league already this season.

    Mamelodi Sundowns in the next game they are visiting Rosina Sedibane while Highlands Park are away to TUKKIES and Excellence hosting Kathorus Hyper.

    Highlands Park too strong for Joburg City

    Highlands Park continued their winning ways as they were too strong for Joburg City on Saturday in a game they won 3-0 courtesy of second half goals.

    Highlands Park came to the game on a three game winning streak while Joburg City coming from away win last week.

    The game started at a slow tempo in the first half as both teams were lacking creativity in the middle of the park. The first half could not produce goals as most chances were missing the net.

    Before halftime Highlands Park tried to find a goal but the keeper of Joburg City kept denying them a lead going to halftime. The game went halftime at 0-all.

    The second half was nothing compared to the first-half as Highlands park took an early goal from a well taken strike from counter attack. Highlands started to dominate the game as they increase their lead and make it 2-0 .

    The home team, Joburg City, could not have answers to cut the lead as they kept on missing chances to give them life in the game. Lion of the North added the third goal to make it 3-0 as they went on to win the game 3-0 scoring seven goals in two games.

    The win sees Highlands Park move closer to the top as they move to 35 points. While Joburg City remain in the bottom after their eight losses of the season.

    POLOKWANE – The Mamelodi Sundowns u19 team suffered their first loss last weekend on the Gauteng Development League but they still remain on top of the standings

    The Gauteng Development league has lighten up as the top four teams has been not be separated by many points.

    TS Galaxy surprised a lot of people when they give Mamelodi Sundowns their first loss of the season.

    The bottom of the standings is getting tense as after every game week we see a new team in the bottom of the standings as Tukkies remain bottom.

    The GDL  top five teams are only separated by three points as Sundowns still on top followed by Kaizer Chiefs, School of Excellence and Highlands.

    Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking to bounce back this weekend when take host Siluma 7.

    The u19 Gauteng Development League continues to bring exciting football week in and week out. The past weekend saw a record of 44 goals scored in the GDL this season.

    Kaizer Chiefs with a thumping 9-1 win over Joburg City made the headlines over past weekend.

    Log leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns, continue their winning ways with a 3-1 win over Jomo Cosmos.

    Sundowns remain top of the log with 32 points in 12 games followed by School of Excellence with 3 points in 11 games and Chiefs on third position with 28 points in 13 games.

    Mamelodi Sundowns unbeaten run continues in GDL

    Kaizer Chiefs scored in full-time stroke to deny Mamelodi Sundowns three points in u19 GDL encounter.

    A game of top of the table clash on Sunday afternoon was end-to-end staff as Masandwana and Amakhosi settle for a draw to keep Masandawana unbeaten this season. While Amakhosi have loss three times this season.

    The first half was an end-to-end game as both teams squander  many chances. Amakhosi were the better side in most of the first half but could not capitalize on their chances as it went half time 0-0.

    Kaizer Chiefs took the lead on 54 minutes from a stunner strike outside the box.

    Masandawana never wasted time as they equalized on the 65 minutes with a shot just outside the box. Sundowns wanted it more as they took the lead on the 86 minutes of the game.

    Masandwana failed to defend their lead in the closing minutes of the game. As Chiefs scored on the stroke of full time to make it 2-2  and prevented Sundowns to walk away with three points in an entertaining game.

    Mamelodi Sundowns next game is away to Jomo Cosmos and Kaizer Chiefs next game is at home to Joburg City FC on Saturday 20 May.

    Kaizer Chiefs stumble again for second successive game

    Kaizer chiefs us loosing momentum at a crucial point of the season is they lost their second game in a row on Saturday.

    Kaizer Chiefs u19 team is finding it hard to win again as they lost at Naturena village again. Having lost at home for the first time last weekend even this week Kaizer chiefs lost again to Prestige.

    Round 12 saw Amakhosi losing at home 3-2. The young boys from Naturena are lossing the gripe on log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

    With 3 loss so far for Amakhosi on position 3 tie with School of Excellence with 24 points and behind by 4 points from log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns with a game in hand.

    The next game of Kaizer Chiefs is against Mamelodi Sundowns in which they will be looking to cut the points to 1 point gap.
