Gimmies hot favourites at home to Bishops, SACS hosts Boland Landbou

Paarl Gimnasium hosts Bishops at 12:45 on the J.A. Kriel Field on Saturday.

Having lost the fixture 0-50 at home last year against a dynamic and high-scoring Gimmies juggernaut, one might expect the Cape Town school isn’t feeling too good about their chances ahead of their showdown on Saturday.

However, under head coach Sam Mofokeng, Bishops has leaned into what many consider to be their biggest strength: free-flowing, running rugby, based on keeping the ball alive.

Catch the action LIVE on SuperSport Schools

Their style shows that they have confidence in backs like Eljaron Geduld to get the ball out wide quickly. The centre bagged himself a try in a 38-20 southern suburbs derby loss against Wynberg Boys’ High last weekend, and also crossed for a five-pointer in their previous outing, a 17-26 defeat against Hilton College.

Bishops, whose record is an even four wins and four defeats, has scored less than 20 points in only two of their eight games this year; in the aforementioned defeat to Hilton and in a battling loss to SACS by just five points. While that is a decent enough achievement, their highest output is only 31 points, achieved against Worcester Gimnasium and Strand in their first two matches.

Gimmies‘ captain and inside centre Ethan Barker scored a try in his side’s emphatic 64-15 victory against Boland Landbou in a Paarl derby.

He’s got the speed of a centre, but also carries the ball into contact with the brutish strength usually associated with an eighthman. He also sets the standard on defence, delivering crushing tackles.

Paarl Gim has failed to score less than 40 points in only three out of their nine games this season, so the clash in Paarl should be high-scoring.

SACS narrowly lost in a southern suburbs’ derby last weekend, falling 17-19 against Rondebosch Boys’ High.

Boland Landbou will be aware of that when they visit the Memorial-A Field at 12:45 on Saturday. Their meeting with Rondebosch, in Paarl, on 18 April, ended in a tight 43-41 victory. That suggests a tight contest awaits.

Catch all the action LIVE on SuperSport Schools

Despite their loss to Rondebosch, SACS flyhalf and dangerman Jake Dave delivered another strong performance, scoring 12 of their 17 points via two conversions, a penalty, and a try.

The Farmers‘ flanks will be focused on restricting Dave’s share of possession by utilising their phenomenal work rate at the breakdown. Captain Juan Visagie and Jacques Bester are industrious players. They reach breakdowns quickly, and they inject pace when in possession of the ball.

Last year, on the farm, Boland Landbou scraped a tight 21-18 win.

Both sides have faced some of the top teams in the Western Cape this year and, although neither has recorded an upset, both have been battle-hardened by those clashes. They’ll be up for another bruising battle this weekend.

Pretoria Boys High vs Hilton College

Every year since 2018, except for the Covid-19-affected years of 2020 and 2021, Hilton College and Pretoria Boys High have met in an annual interschools fixture. Hilton has won all six of those matches, including 38-24 last season, and they’ll be favoured to win again when they visit the South African capital city on Saturday.

Catch the action LIVE on SuperSport Schools

Eight matches into their campaign, Hilton’s record is clean. They’ve won all eight. The Candies are only seven matches into their season after illness led to them skipping the Standard Bank Grey High Rugby Festival and matches against King Edward VII (KES) and Kingswood.

In their most recent outing, they beat St David’s Marist Inanda 47-31, while Hilton outplayed Glenwood High 42-7.

Boys High’s best result of the season was a 35-34 victory over SACS at the Pretoria Boys High 125th Festival, but the game before the win over St David’s, they were blasted 61-5 on Goldstone’s by Maritzburg College.

While the Candies will have the advantage of hosting Hilton on Brooks Field, the challenge they face is that Hilton’s approach is similar to that of College, and they’re an extremely well-drilled outfit.

It’s often a case of Hilton administering slow poison, grinding teams down, but that slow poison becomes a flood later in the game, and they build up momentum through wave upon wave of attacks. If Boys High does not slow Hilton down at ruck and maul time, they’ll be in for a tough outing.

The Candies are often at their best when they get the ball out wide. They’ll need quality ball to feed to their flyers, and that’s the biggest question that they face on Saturday: Can they win sufficient quality ball to challenge Hilton College?

They’ll have to be spot-on in the lineouts, too. Hilton College captain Andrew Schnell has proven himself to be one of the best at the set piece this season, often stealing the opposition’s throw-ins. His reward has been inclusion in the Sharks’ Craven Week team.

Nico Davel, who kicked the match-winning kick in Hilton’s derby win over Michaelhouse, and played against Glenwood in the absence of John Grubb, who was injured against Michaelhouse, retains the no. 10 jersey, with Grubb named among the substitutes.

    St John’s College vs Michaelhouse

In Johannesburg, Michaelhouse takes on St John’s College.

Catch the action LIVE on SuperSport Schools

While St John’s has won five of its seven matches, Michaelhouse has played a tougher schedule, resulting in a record of four wins and four defeats. The hosts, though, cannot match Michaelhouse’s wins over Northwood and Affies, two of the better teams in the country this season.

House will, however, be without their talismanic captain, Nicolas Salamousas, again. He has a hamstring injury, and those are notoriously difficult to overcome. It takes time.

Salamousas, a tighthead prop, was, nonetheless, included in the Sharks’ Craven Week team, along with loosehead Aphelele Chamane. Inside centre, Alex Jankowitz, also cracked the nod, while Fabiano Ferro and Ben Hughes were included in the Academy Week line-up. Jaydon Jubber, who is not part of the 1st XV for Saturday’s match, was also included in the Academy Week squad.

Michaelhouse is a tough, physical outfit, and they’ll be like a bear with a sore tooth headache on Saturday after successive last-gasp losses to Hilton College and Kearsney College in their last two outings.

St John’s, most recently, beat St Andrew’s School 31-21 in Bloemfontein, but Michaelhouse is a big step up in competition, and the home side doesn’t boast any of the signature wins that the Balgowan boys own. Still, they have home ground advantage on the Burger Field, and with that comes the altitude of Johannesburg. For visiting teams, that feeling of burning breath in the last quarter of a game can be disconcerting.

St John’s captain Mako Mandizha, who represented the Golden Lions Academy team in 2025, has been included in the Lions u18A side for the province’s Craven Week trials. He’ll pack down opposite Michaelhouse’s Aphelele Chamane in an interesting duel.

He’s not the only player who represented the province last year. Lock Allan Njanfang Patu ran out for the u17 Golden Lions Welpies.

They’ll lead the St John’s charge. No doubt, though, the hosts head into Saturday’s contest as the underdog.

    TEAMS

St John’s College vs Michaelhouse at Burger Field, Johannesburg, at 11:50.

St John’s College: 15 Joshua Nyamaropa, 14 Mihlali Tabane, 13 Lwandile Khupe, 12 David Ireland, 11 Tumiso Motshegoa, 10 Alex Psillos, 9 Adam Haselau, 8 Cameron Coetzer, 7 Shane Dalton, 6 Glenn Greyling, 5 Allan Njanfang Patu, 4 Simon Mussett, 3 Mako Mandhiza, 2 Luke Scott, 1 Titus Mhlongo.

Michaelhouse: 15 Reece Cole, 14 Laird Hamilton-Brown, 13 Fabiano Fierro, 12 Alex Jankowitz, 11 Barend de Bruyn, 10 Jack Carmody, 9 Ben Hughes, 8 Oliver Guy, 7 Jed Reilly, 6 Kumkani Dwenga, 5 Reece Malga, 4 Trezeguet Hawkins, 3 Sphelo Mfazwe, 2 Max Oliva, 1 Aphelele Chamane.

  • Grey College travels to Pretoria for showdown with Affies in King Price Derby Series

Grey College travels to Pretoria for showdown with Affies in King Price Derby Series

The King Price Derby Series will be showcasing the best of what South African schoolboy rugby has to offer once again this Saturday.

One of the biggest school rugby rivalries will take centre stage in Pretoria when the Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool of Pretoria will take on Grey College from Bloemfontein.

Catch all the action live on SuperSport Schools (www.supersportschools.co.za) or on Channel 216 in DStv. The match kicks off at 14:00.

These two schools met for the first time on the rugby field in 1923. Since then, 48 encounters took place with Grey College coming out on top in 37 of them, while Affies won six matches. Five matches ended in a draw.

Grey College defeated Paarl Boys’ High by 31-21 in a King Price Derby Series encounter last week. This week, they will be welcoming back Johan Dormehl (winger) and Henru Erasmus (flanker) to their ranks after they missed the encounter against Boishaai due to injury.

Erasmus’ partnership with Niel du Randt and Xander de Beer in the loose forwards could prove to be the deciding factor in the match.

Affies welcome back Rico du Plessis at outside centre. Du Plessis has been a revelation this year in every match he got an opportunity to pull on the hallowed Wit Bul-jersey.

With his ability to open up space for the side’s dangerous wingers, Dandré Brink and Dehan Botha, he will, without a doubt, be looked after well by Grey’s defence.

It has been more than ten years since Affies last defeated Grey College. Their last victory came back in 2015, when they won 29-18 in Bloemfontein.

In Riversdale on the Eike-field, Oakdale Landbou will be hosting Hoërskool Outeniqua in the biggest school rugby, wait probably biggest rugby match in South Western Districts.

The last two years’ encounters belonged solely to the Bulle from Oakdale as they trampled the Kwaggas by 50-7 (2025) and 60-8 (2024). This year’s encounter promises to be a much tighter affair.

Going by the selectors for the Craven Week, Oakdale should still be the favourites for this Saturday’s clash. Eleven players from the side made South Western Districs’ squad to take part in this tournament in Gqeberha in July.

Outeniqua have nine players who made the cut. Oakdale’s loosehead prop, Kyle Burger, got the nod ahead of Matthew Smith of Outeniqua in the starting line-up. Burger will, however, be on the bench for this weekend’s clash, while Smith would be raring to go to showcase what he has to offer.

In Krugersdorp on the Ras van Rooyen Hoërskool Monument’s Wit Bulle will face Jeppe High School for Boys in another King Price Derby Series clash.

These two schools don’t have a long history of playing each other, but they have been the two main producers for the Lions Craven Week side over the last couple of years.

This Saturday’s encounter will only be the sixth in history. The first was in 2014 when Monnas won by 24-22. Last year, Monument won handsomely by 70-24 on Collard Field.

In the previous two years, Jeppe came out on top by 47-31 (2024) and 30-24 (2023).

The halfback pairing of Morné Noble and Jayden Viljoen will be the driving force behind the Wit Bulle. Noble represented the South African Schools’ side in 2025, while Viljoen is without a doubt one of the frontrunners to wear the number 10 SA Schools-jersey this year.

In the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands St Charles College will host Glenwood High School for a King Price Derby Series encounter from 15:30.

South Africa kicked off their Confederation of African Football (Caf) u17 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Senegal on Thursday at the Mohammed VI Football Academy in Rabat, Morocco.

The Amajimbos, under the guidance of coach Vela Khumalo, faced a challenging start against the 2023 u17 Afcon champions, and they trailed 0-1 at halftime after Senegalese defender Cheikh Thior scored with a header from a corner kick.

Whatever Khumalo and his technical team said to the Amajimbos during the halftime break proved effective, as they returned to the field energised.

Only three minutes into the second stanza, Inganathi Simama, who plays for Mamelodi Sundowns in the Gauteng Development League (GDL), netted the equaliser for South Africa, following confirmation from the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) that the ball had indeed crossed the line.

Just seven minutes later, a long-range shot from Kaizer Chiefs’ Reotshepile Malete deflected off Senegal’s goal scorer,  Thior, into his own net, which proved decisive.

Senegal fought relentlessly to level the scores, and the drama was heightened late in the game when two potential goals were disallowed for offside in the final 20 minutes.

Ultimately, the contest ended in a 2-1 victory for Khumalo’s team, who defended exceptionally well in the second half to maintain their lead.

Despite the loss, Cheikh Dieng of Senegal was named the Man of the Match for his contributions. He pressured Amajimbos, particularly in the second half, forcing the South Africans to turn over possession. However, the 2023 Afcon winners were unable to conjure up an equaliser.

In a highly competitive Group D, which also includes Ghana and Algeria, it was a critical winning start for South Africa, and a 2-2 draw between the Ghanains and Algerians further helped the Amajimbos’ cause.

Theirs was a game of two halves, with Ghana going up 2-0 in the first half and Algeria striking back in the second half to claim a share of the spoils.

That draw leaves South Africa top of the group with three points.

  • Midweek wins for Carter, Queensburgh, Inland C-League final set

Midweek wins for Carter, Queensburgh, Inland C-League final set

On Wednesday, in the Mancosa KwaZulu-Natal High Schools Football Association (KZNHSFA) Inland A-League, Carter High increased its lead at the top of the standings with a 1-0 victory over Maritzburg College.

Carter, the 2025 Inland A-League runner-up, avenged their defeat in the 2025 final, beating their city rival on a goal from Bayanda Msomi. The win increased Carter’s tally to 13 points, one more than Ixopo, who picked up a 2-0 win over Linpark.

Edendale climbed above Maritzburg College, from fourth to third, after securing a 2-0 win over Haythorne. They now have 10 points, two points clear of College. To qualify for the final, Edendale will need to win its last two round-robin fixtures.

The chase for a place in the final remains open. Even Maritzburg College, with two wins, two draws, and one loss from five matches, still has a chance to qualify for the title game, or even finish at the top if the three teams above them drop points in the forthcoming two games. But their chances have slimmed after losing to Carter.

A 100% winning record for Queensburgh High after five games

Queensburgh High has won five out of five in the KZN Coastal B-League. Their most recent victim was Sastri College, with Queensburgh recording a 2-1 win in their clash on Thursday.

In second place is Brettonwood, with nine points. They fell further off the pace set by Queensburgh on Thursday when they were beaten 1-0 by Grosvenor Boys’ High, Ziyanda Ndlovu netted the decisive goal for the school from The Bluff.

New Forest High has now drawn level with Brettonwood on points after a 2-1 victory over Redwood College, thanks to goals by Awande Ngcobo and Lwandle Ngobese. Brettonwood, though, owns the better goal difference.

After their defeat, Redwood is at the bottom of the table, in eighth place, while Empangeni is in seventh, and Amanzimtoti occupies sixth place, with five points.

Asibonge Ngobese netted twice in Empangeni’s 2-1 win over Amanzimtoti, which improved their points haul to four. Their position, at seventh, was unchanged.

Siyanda and Umvuzo get ready for an epic Inland C-League finale!

Siyanda High and Umvuzo Secondary are set to meet in the final of the Inland C-League on Thursday, 28 May. On the line will be promotion to the 2027 KZN Inland B-League.

With three wins and two draws from their five matches, Siyanda High finished top of the table, with 11 points. Umvuzo finished in second place with nine points from five games, with three wins and two losses.

On Thursday, they outplayed Maritzburg College C 5-1, with braces from Sabelosami Mkhize and Ntokozo Mkhize leading their charge, while Alwande Duma scored their fifth goal.

Umvuzo was held to a 1-1 draw by Smero Secondary, while St Nicholas Diocesan School scored a 3-1 victory over Carter High B.

The Jade Brigade aims to conquer Boishaai, Durbies tackle Tygerberg

Stellenberg High’s sights are set on taking down another of South Africa’s traditional powerhouses on Saturday. Photo: Stellies XV.

Stellenberg High will have an opportunity to slay a fourth giant in 2026 when they hit the road to take on Paarl Boys’ High at 12:40 on Saturday.

Catch all the action LIVE on SuperSport Schools.

The visitors have produced a phenomenal season so far, which has included victories over Grey College, Paul Roos Gimnasium and Paarl Gimnasium. Their only flaw in 12 games was a last-minute 20-21 loss to Hoërskool Garsfontein in March.

In their most recent match, they defeated Oakdale Landbou 15-13 in Riversdal. Oakdale drew 13-13 with Boishaai in April.

Boys’ High has tasted defeat in their past two outings, going down 37-40 to Affies at the Absa Wildeklawer Tournament in Kimberley, and 21-31 to Grey College in Bloemfontein. They’ll welcome the chance to take on a big gun at home.

Last May, Saturday’s hosts, who finished the season ranked number one in the country after edging out Paarl Gimnasium in a game for the ages, won 27-0 in Bellville. This time out, things are expected to be far tighter. The Jade Brigade is in its best shape ever, while Boishaai faces the rare prospect of a third loss in a row.

With Stellenberg High centre JC Swart out injured, wing Ralton Rhode will take over the no. 13 jersey. Morné Pretorius will be responsible for covering Rhode’s usual spot on the right wing.

Boishaai loosehead prop Max Malan is a key player in the scrums. His ability to win possession may shake up Stellies, who have been strong in the set pieces all season long, especially in the lineouts.

Saturday’s showdown should be a thriller, and it could constitute the next chapter in a history-making season for Stellies in 2026.

After a tough 19-64 loss to Paul Roos Gimnasium last weekend, Hoërskool Durbanville will be intent on getting back to winning ways when they host Hoërskool Tygerberg at 12:30 on Saturday.

The Tigers themselves come off a narrow 22-24 loss to Hoërskool Strand. They haven’t won in their last four matches, which will make their hunger for a victory that much greater.

Durbies‘ outside centre Farrel-Leigh Dido is one to watch. He has agility, speed and power, which he used to score off the bench as an outside centre in the Paul Roos encounter. If given time and space, he is dangerous.

Durbanville will be favoured, but Tygerberg could catch them off guard on the counterattack if the hosts become overly confident.

It’s been a tough last four weeks for DF Akademie, who have lost every time. Their last outing ended in a 14-31 defeat to unbeaten Hoërskool Parel Vallei. They have an opportunity to turn things around when they host Fairmont High at 11:50 on Saturday.

Fullback Pieter Delport has a handy boot that will help DF in the battle for territory at the back.

Fairmont takes on one of their fiercest competitors this season. Last season, they went down 5-27. Taking into account that they do not often play opposition as strong as DF, they are underdogs in this one.

The clash presents DF Akademie not only with an opportunity to win, but also to build confidence lost in their last four matches.

  • Omgekrapte Rooi Bulle in moeilike stryd teen Montana in Plaat-afdeling

Omgekrapte Rooi Bulle in moeilike stryd teen Montana in Plaat-afdeling

    PHOTO: Tap Light Edits

HTS Middelburg se Rooi Bulle sal Montana Saterdag in Middelburg inwag.

    Oos-Moot t. Wesvalia om 12:30 in Pretoria:

Oos-Moot: 15 Brian Jacobs, 14 Tyrese Adams, 13 Jayden Meintjies, 12 Le Roux Smith, 11 Le-Jerick Vaughn, 10 Tersius van der Merwe, 9 Arno Badenhorst, 8 Wilson Riyaan, 7 Luhan Hay, 6 Andre Winter, 5 Ulrich Gerber, 4 Duwan Barnard, 3 Sinawo Stengana, 2 Doneal Weideman, 1 Thando Telelo.

Wesvalia: 15 Jaco Combrinck, 14 Damian Potgieter, 13 Wilson Letholi, 12 Wian du Preez, 11 Martin Bierman, 10 Kani Thakamakhoa, 9 Brandt Muller, 8 Tiaan de Kock, 7 Jean van Wyk, 6 Christiaan Swanepoel, 5 JP Hatting, 4 Dominic Kath, 3 Charl du Preez, 2 Christiaan Naudé, 1 Jason de la Harpe.

Grey High out to end Wynberg’s winning streak in Cape Town

Grey High will need to find an answer to Wyberg’s rolling maul if they are to beat the Cape Town school for the first time since 2017. Photo: Wynberg Boys’ Rugby Official.

One of Wynberg Boys’ High‘s strengths this season has been the rolling maul, and they used it effectively to defeat Bishops 38-20 in a southern suburbs derby last weekend.

Grey High’s last outing was on 27 April, when they beat Glenwood High 34-12 in Gqeberha. That means Saturday’s match against Wynberg will be their first in three weeks. They’re well rested, but they might be a bit rusty.

Last May, in a fantastic clash in Gqeberha, Wynberg won 32-27.

The Cape Town school has been a bogey side for Grey High. The Eastern Cape boys last won in 2017, taking that game 40-30.

Since then, they’ve mustered draws in 2019 (27-27) and 2024 (10-10), but Wynberg has recorded wins in their other meetings, in 2018 (36-33), 2022 (18-16), and 2023 (35-8).

Based on both sides’ form this season, it should be a tight contest. Wynberg has won five and lost three, while Grey High has five wins and two losses on its record.

Wynberg flyhalf Achmat Behardien and inside centre Luke Gertze, who sometimes plays flyhalf, will have key roles to play for the home side. They are both creative players, able to make the backline sing with their inventive play.

Hooker, Ridah Johnson, is deadly off the back of the rolling maul, as is Naeem Mohammed, who packs down at both hooker and flank.

The visitors’ captain and inside centre Ciaran Killian is a line-breaking threat with his clever running lines. The Wynberg midfield will need to keep a close eye on him if they are to limit Grey’s try-scoring opportunities.

Blindside flank Blake Parker returns to the Grey High lineup, boosting the Gqeberha boys with another try-scoring threat.

Wynberg may have the advantage at lineout time, but will need to defend tightly in open play if they want to ensure a win at home.

  • High-flying Drostdy to meet Swartland, Hugenote awaits Hermanus

High-flying Drostdy to meet Swartland, Hugenote awaits Hermanus

HTS Drostdy has reason to be confident for their home battle against Hoërskool Swartland at 13:20 on Saturday.

They’ve won their last four games in a row, and all by handsome margins. Their smallest margin of victory during that streak was the 26 points by which they beat Hoërskool Hugenote (Wellington) 40-14 last weekend.

The visitors are on a good run of their own, having won their last six matches, including a big 61-28 win over Hoërskool Robertson last time out.

While the Donkies‘ backs have provided a highlight reel’s worth of tries this season, one must not overlook their forwards’ efforts, which have afforded the backs those opportunities.

Eighthman Simamkele Lahlekile gets around the field in a hurry, usually one of the first men to the breakdown, and his strong carrying earned him a try against Hugenote.

Hooker Winsor Solomon is a key contributor to lineouts and the rolling maul, and also an active participant around the field. He scored two tries on the weekend from open play.

The Worcester locals cruised to a 61-9 win in Malmesbury last year, but this is an improved Rockies outfit, which is expected to put up a tougher fight on Saturday.

Hoërskool Hugenote, the winners of six of their eight matches, will aim for win number seven against the visiting Hoërskool Hermanus when the two sides meet at 12:00 on Saturday.

If Hermanus distributes the ball quickly, their outside centre, Juda Stevens, and left wing, Carlin September, are dangerous runners with elusive pace.

Drostdy tested the Wellington locals on the weekend with their dynamic backs, so with those lessons in the book, Hugenote should be well prepared for the challenge that awaits.

Hermanus will be in for a tough physical examination. Against Drostdy, Hugenote’s pack performed admirably, especially in the first half. They’ll go hard at Hermanus.

Hugenote is favoured at home, and they are expected to enjoy the lion’s share of possession. If Hermanus plays to their strengths and gets the ball out wide swiftly, it could be an interesting and contrasting clash of styles.

Since starting their season with five successive losses, Hoërskool Bellville has now won their last three matches in a row. Last weekend, they beat Milnerton High 27-20. They’ll visit Mossel Bay for a 12:40 showdown with Hoërskool Punt.

Bellville won 17-5 the last time they met, and given their recent good run of form, they’ll fancy their chances of a follow-up victory.

They’ve hit their attacking stride lately, with outside centre Caylem du Plessis being an integral part of their try-scoring, which included dotting down twice last weekend.

Turning back the tide at home will be a tough ask for Punt.

  • ‘Bosch to face the Maroon Machine, Strand tackles Milnerton

Rondebosch is aiming to cause an upset at home. Photo: Rondebosch Boys’ Rugby.

Last July, Paul Roos Gimnasium defeated Rondebosch Boys’ High 48-12 in Stellenbosch. On Saturday, at 12:10, they meet on the Tinkie Heyns Field in Cape Town.

Bosch has Linakho Mehlomakulu, who scored a try in their 19-17 win over SACS last weekend, at openside flank. He’s one of his side’s most reliable ball carriers, often helping the team to build momentum by getting over the gain line, and he’ll need to be effective to help the home team get across the line.

The Maroon Machine‘s blindside flank, Gerard Bekker, is another loose forward on whom to keep an eye. He’s a tough unit, difficult to stop, and he dotted down twice in Paul Roos Gimnasium’s convincing 64-19 victory over Hoërskool Durbanville last Friday evening.

The hosts are on a three-game winning streak, while the Paul Roos winning streak now stands at four games. They’ve lost only once, going down 10-20 to Stellenberg High.

Both sides are in good form, but with Rondebosch enjoying the home advantage, they may prove a tougher nut to crack than they were last season in Stellenbosch.

Hoërskool Strand clinched a 24-22 victory over Hoërskool Tygerberg last weekend. They host Milnerton High at 12:10. Millies lost a hard-fought clash to Hoërskool Bellville, going down 20-27 last Saturday.

When the teams met last August, Milnerton claimed a comfortable 41-18 win. They’ve endured a tough campaign this season, however, with only one draw and seven defeats on their record.

That hasn’t stopped the versatile Chadlin Sellidon from having a strong season. He contributed 10 of Millies’ 20 points last Saturday, scoring a try, and landing a penalty and a conversion.

Strand, on the other hand, has won their last two games. Playing at home, they’ll be confident of making it three on the trot.

Their openside flank Joshua Lourens and eighthman Rohan Bezuidenhout had strong games on the weekend, making plenty of tackles on defence while also collecting a try each.
