\"NuusGA brand new rivalry is to be born between the city slickers and the farmers as Rondebosch Boys\u2019 High<\/strong> travel to meet Oakdale Landbou<\/strong> for the first of what they hope will become an annual fixture.<\/p>\n

The game will be broadcast live on SuperSport Schools. <\/strong>– Register Now<\/a><\/p>\n

The fires will be lit on Friday night, as the Rondebosch boys arrive at the Oakdale hostel where they will be spending the evening, for a massive braai and social before the competition begins on Saturday.<\/p>\n

This will be the first time that these two schools face each other on a rugby field, and both teams will be looking to begin this relationship on a winning note.<\/p>\n

The first team game kicks off at 12:50 on Saturday at Oakdale.<\/p>\n

Oakdale has produced a number of Springbok legends over the years, with JC Janse van Rensburg<\/strong>, Johann Muller<\/strong>, Meyer Bosman<\/strong> and Pedrie Wannenburg<\/strong> all receiving their education at the agri-college.<\/p>\n

The hosts will also be able to fall back on the experience of their loosehead prop, Marco Steyn<\/strong> (captain) and the evasive winger, Therlow Prins<\/strong> who represented both the first team and the SWD Craven Week team last year.<\/p>\n

Prins was also selected to represent the SWD u17 sevens team, along with flanker, Hanno Louw<\/strong> and fullback, Kurt Coetzee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Coach Malan du Plessis<\/strong>\u00a0who is into his 12th year at the helm of Oakdale rugby, and his team will look forward to testing his talented group of players before the North\/South tournament<\/strong> at the end of the month in Pretoria where they will face Helpmekaar<\/strong> and Garsfontein<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Rondeboschers have also cemented their name in the Springbok history books with the legacy of Hanyani Shimange<\/strong> when he received his first international cap in 2004.<\/p>\n

Other notable alumni include rugby commentator, Gcobani Bobo<\/strong>, who played Super Rugby for the Cats, Sharks and Stormers, as well as Springbok Sevens stars, Zain Davids<\/strong> and Devlon Blood<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Rondebosch squad may not have the experience of their opponents, but the team from Cape Town proved that they can topple any team again last year, beating the likes of SACS<\/strong>, Boishaai<\/strong>, Stellenberg<\/strong>, Paul Roos<\/strong>, Bishops<\/strong> and Wynberg<\/strong> during the 2022 season.<\/p>\n

This encounter promises to be the beginning of an exciting competition between two schools with rich and varied rugby traditions.<\/p>\n
