{"id":15574,"date":"2023-05-15T09:22:02","date_gmt":"2023-05-15T07:22:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rugby.supersportschools.com\/?p=15574"},"modified":"2023-05-15T09:22:02","modified_gmt":"2023-05-15T07:22:02","slug":"queens-college-earns-a-royal-victory-over-dale-college","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=15574","title":{"rendered":"Queen\u2019s College earns a royal victory over Dale College"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-6948\" src=\"https:\/\/rugby.supersportschools.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/NewsG_DaleCollege-300x189.jpg\" alt=\"NewsG DaleCollege\" width=\"400\" height=\"252\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/NewsG_DaleCollege-300x189.jpg 300w, https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/NewsG_DaleCollege.jpg 448w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/>Queen\u2019s College and Dale College were playing aggressive and competitive rugby this weekend, both utilizing pace and power every minute of the game. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After much back and forth, Queen\u2019s took a 21-12 victory over Dale. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Onke Ntontela, of Queens, broke the ice and went full speed ahead to score the first try of the game. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dale retaliated by means of Lindokuhle Xozwa, earning their first try and bringing the schools to a tie. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Soon after, Mveli Mqulo succeeded in kicking a penalty for Queen\u2019s and brought the game to 8-5. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The lead was soon handed over as Liyabona Matyana of Dale scored another try, which was converted by Phikolomzi Mtyalela, bringing the half time result to 12-8 in Dale\u2019s favour. The second half went in Queen\u2019s direction. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They began to take the lead when they had a successful lineout, only metres from Dale\u2019s try line, and Emihle Jaxa quickly broke through the defence to earn another try for Queen\u2019s.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> In an unexpected moment, Queen\u2019s revealed that they had a card up their sleeve, Turshaan Hare kicked a drop goal and succeeded in putting another three points on the board. Queens finished off strong with Siya Konki landing a try, further securing them the win and ending off a great game of rugby.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Grey High School and St Andrew\u2019s College were not only battling each other, but the weather as well. Even with the terrible conditions, both schools fought as hard as they could. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kaiden Titus, of Grey High School, scored a try in the first half, which he converted, bringing the half time score to 7-0 to grey. In the second half, Chad Human and Daniel de Lange each managed to score a try for Grey High School, the latter of which was converted by Kaiden Titus. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The game ended at 19-0 to Grey High School, a well-earned victory, and due to the conditions, will likely be a memorable game for all involved.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kingswood College and Pearson College also played through a massive down pour; this weekend turned rugby into an aquatic sport. Pearson did their best to hold the competition off, however, Kingswood seized the opportunities that were available and took a 18-0 win over Pearson.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Selborne College brought their A-game and defeated Port Rex 45-0 on Saturday. This adds to their list of big wins this season, proving what top tier rugby they can produce.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Marlow Landbou defeated Nico Malan 25-15. This is Marlow\u2019s fourth consecutive win; they took a massive 72-12 victory over Landboudal at the end of April, and they seem to be on an upward trajectory for the rest of the season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Scorers:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Queen\u2019s College 21 \u2013 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tries: Onke Ntontela, Emihle Jaxa, Siya Konki.
