The teams did however get a chance to take to the court as the weather cleared up later in the day. The hosts, Menlopark<\/strong>, defeated Monument of Krugersdorp by 33-8 in their only match on the opening day.<\/p>\n

Ben Vorster<\/strong> of Tzaneen would be very happy with their 23-15 victory over Helpmekaar<\/strong> on the opening day, while Potchefstroom Volkskool<\/strong> managed to beat Oranje<\/strong> of Bloemfontein by 17-11 in na exciting encounter.<\/p>\n

Helpmekaar did manage to secure a 20-all draw against Paarl Girls’ High<\/strong>, who probably was the top side in the country last year.<\/p>\n

Paarl Gimnasium<\/strong> bagged a convincing 27-8 victory over Florida<\/strong> in their only match on the opening day. Gimmies seems to be a team to watch out for this season.<\/p>\n

Probably the highlight of the opening day was the showcase match between the Gauteng Jaguars and the North West Flames<\/p>\n
