{"id":29791,"date":"2023-11-30T14:16:15","date_gmt":"2023-11-30T12:16:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/football.supersportschools.com\/?p=2000"},"modified":"2023-11-30T14:16:15","modified_gmt":"2023-11-30T12:16:15","slug":"steve-sekano-foundation-to-host-u13-tournament-at-fiat-sports-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=29791","title":{"rendered":"Steve Sekano Foundation to host u13 tournament at Fiat Sports Centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2009\" src=\"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/steve-sekano-foundation-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/>The <strong>Steve Sekano Foundation<\/strong> will be hosting an u13 football tournament on the 9<sup>th<\/sup> of December at the <strong>Fiat Sports Centre<\/strong> in <strong>Meadowlands Zone 9<\/strong>, with eight teams featuring in a playoff.<\/p>\n<p>The on-field action kicks off at 09:00.<\/p>\n<p>Sekano, who turned out for <strong>Orlando Pirates<\/strong>, <strong>Moroka Swallows<\/strong>, <strong>Jomo Cosmos<\/strong>, <strong>Cape Town Spurs<\/strong> and <strong>Spartak FC<\/strong> during his professional career, will be on hand to oversee the action and to hand out pre-loved football boots and school shoes to needy children.<\/p>\n<p>Sekano&#8217;s Foundation, which was founded six years ago, aims to uplift the local community through football and netball.<\/p>\n<p>In 2022, South African football legends&#8217; <strong>Lucas Radebe<\/strong>, <strong>Linda Buthelezi<\/strong>, <strong>Ronnie Zondi<\/strong> and <strong>Tebogo Moloi<\/strong> attended the finals of his eponymous sports tournament.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the Steve Sekano Foundation u17 Sports Tournament, which had taken place since 2017, over the course of three days, incorporating 16 boys&#8217; teams, eight girls&#8217; teams, and eight netball teams, will not be held this year due to a sponsorship that has fallen through.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the event drew considerable backing, including kits for all of the teams, plus an additional kit for the finalists.<\/p>\n<p>Catering was provided for the participants and R10 000 went to the winners, with the runners-up receiving R5 000.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, food parcels were distributed to pensioners on the last day of the tournament.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Steve Sekano Foundation will be hosting an u13 football tournament on the 9th of December at the Fiat Sports Centre in Meadowlands Zone 9, with eight teams featuring in a playoff.
