\"\"The annual St Anne\u2019s Diocesan College Water Polo tournament will kick off this coming weekend in Durban when the hosts welcome 19 schools to determine who will be crowned 2023 champions by the end of play on Monday.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The tournament will enter its 17<\/span>th<\/span> edition this year having started all the way back in 2004, with disruptions coming in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The festivities will be played in two different pools, namely St Annes and Hilton College.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There will be 40 group stage matches on Friday and Saturday before the play-offs on Sunday, with the action coming to an end with the final on Monday at 12:00.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Last year\u2019s winners, Crawford all the way from Lonehill will be back with strong intentions of retaining their title. They are placed in Pool B, alongside powerhouse schools in Herschel, St Mary\u2019s Waverley, Maris Stella and a KZN invitational side that will be looking to cause the big name upsets.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The home side, St Anne\u2019s, coached by the experienced Megan Sileno are in Pool A, and will take on St Stithians, Kingsmead, St Mary\u2019s Kloof, and tournament favourites St John\u2019s.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Durban Girls College will be looking to follow in the footsteps of their u16 team that won the DSG u16 Water Polo tournament a couple of weeks ago when they take on Reddam House Constantia, St Anne\u2019s u16, Beaulieu, and surprise package, Thomas More College.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Pool D promises to be a very tightly contested affair as Danville Park Girls from Durban will battle it out with St Dominics, Roedean, Reddam House Bedfordview and The Wykeham Collegiate.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The matches to watch out for on day one include the opening clash between hosts St Anne\u2019s and St Mary\u2019s Kloof.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Herschel will also be looking to get their tournament up and running when they take on St Mary\u2019s Waverley at 15:30.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
