Only this match and the clash between KwaZulu-Natal Inland and North West ended with a result at the end of the first day of the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>Northern Cape were bundled out for just 42 after winning the toss and electing to bat first. Gauteng&rsquo;s Emmanuel Motswiri and Mzikhona Buthelezi took six wickets between them, returning impressive figures of 3\/7 and 3\/8 respectively, with an added two wickets taken by Curtis Campher.<\/p>\n<p>Gauteng very quickly reached and surpassed their 43-run target and posted 249\/5 before declaring. Erasmus&rsquo; knock included 19 boundaries and six sixes, batting at a strike rate of 153.33 before he was bowled out by Andile Tshaka. Other notable contributions came from Mohammed Ahmed and Jason Knibbs who returned 39 and 36 not-out respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Northern Cape&rsquo;s rebuttal was thwarted by another notable three-for, this time by Kgaudisa Molefe (3\/7). They were restricted to 96\/5.<\/p>\n<p>In the only other match that yielded a century, Western Province left Limpopo trailing by 109 at the close when they met at St Dunstan&#8217;s College. Justin Broad returned unbeaten for 115 (140 balls, 18x4s) after a 129-run 80 from opening batsman Bonga Makhakha kick started the proceedings. Province declared with 264\/5 on the board.<\/p>\n<p>In reply, opener, Nhlanhla Shikwanmbana hit 60 off 113 balls to get his side out of a slump after they lost Jimmy Modiba for four. A series of 20s by Franco Oberholzer (25), Atwell Mogoloboto (23 off 32) and Glen Groenewald (23 off 94) saw North West to 155\/6 with a pair of wickets taken by Kyle Pluke, Tuan Harrison and Umar Anthony.<\/p>\n<p>At Sahara Park Willowmoore, Border drew their match against hosts, Easterns. Akhanya Rebe, Mathew Ferrant and Keith Krautz scored 84, 41 and 29 respectively to have Border declare on 232\/8 after electing to bat first. Easterns replied with 238\/6 including respective scores of 87, 66 and 35 by Luke Holland, Musawenkosi Twala and Thulani Thembela before the match was called.<\/p>\n<p>In other matches, Mpumalanga trail KwaZulu-Natal by 24 runs with six wickets in hand at Alberton High, Zimbabwe lead South Western Districts by 68 runs at Willowmoore Park B Field, Northerns lead Boland by 26 runs at Avion Park and in the last match of the day, Free State lead Eastern Province by 21 runs at CBC Benoni.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Summarised Scorecards (Time Cricket):&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Northern Cape first innings 42<\/strong> (JR Oss 15; Emmanuel Motswiri 3\/7, Mzikhona Buthelezi 3\/8, Curtis Campher&nbsp;2\/9); <strong>Gauteng first innings 249\/5 decl.
