They will also face each other on Wednesday for a place in the main match of the week.

Boland, KwaZulu-Natal and KwaZulu-Natal Inland were the only sides that managed to be victorious in their two Twenty/20 matches on the third day in the Mother City. Western Province’s match against North West in the morning session was abandoned due to rain without a ball being bowled.

The Coca-Cola Hero of the Day, Matt Pollard, produced a match wining bowling performance which saw Free State missing out on a possible opportunity to book a place in the main match of the week.

Free State was cruising at 73/2 chasing 122 for victory when Pollard came into the attack. He removed four batsmen for a mere 11 runs in his four overs. After he finished his spell the Free Staters were with their backs against the wall on 104/7.

Free State recorded an impressive victory of 36 runs over Gauteng in the morning session in a match that was reduced to 10 overs per side. Free State amassed 127/7 in their allotted ten overs with captain, Garnett Tarr (32) and Gerald Coetzee (29) taking the Gauteng bowling attack apart.

Pheko Moletsane (21) also contributed with the bat as well as held on to a spectacular catch at short fine-leg to get rid of Bryce Parsons (42).

Boland’s opening batsman Ruan Terblanché (71*) helped his side keep their unbeaten status with an unbeaten half-century against North West. The only other two half-centuries on the third day was scored by Shaun Fouché (Namibia) and Ludwig Kaestner (Northerns).

Fouché scored an unbeaten 51 as Namibia schocked Northerns by seven wickets. Kaestner also scored an unbeaten 51 runs as his side steamrolled Limpopo by nine wickets.

Western Province kept it late in their afternoon match against South Western Districts to come out on top by two wickets. Lehan Botha’s (40) bat has done most of the talking in this victory for WP.

KwaZulu-Natal Inland’s Hayden Rossouw was in a devastating mood in his sides match against Easterns in the morning. He scored an unbeaten 24 runs off only five deliveries. His innings included three sixes and a four.

Gauteng finished on a high by defeating Easterns by nine wickets mostly thanks to their spin bowler Kgaudise Molefe (3/21).

Mpumalanga restricted Border to a mere 77 runs with Ewan Lombaard (4/12) and Tsepiso Magagula (4/27) causing most of the damage. Magagula also held on to a spectacular catch which puts him in the running to be named the Fielder of the Week.

Summarised Scorecards:

Round 1

Free State 127/7 (Garnett Tarr 32, Gerald Coetzee 29, Pheko Moletsane 21; Bryce Parsons 2/25); Gauteng 91/5 (Bryce Parsons 42, Mudiwa Chanakira 28*; Gerald Coetzee 1/14). Free State won by 36 runs.

Northerns 83/6 (Modiri Litheko 34; Mauritius Ngupita 2/16, Ettienne Beukes 2/20); Namibia 86/3 (Shaun Fouché 51*, Divan la Cock 27; Sebastian van Rooyen 2/11). Namibia won by seven wickets.

Easterns 58/5 (Kyle Saxby 20; Matthew Montgomery 3/13); KwaZulu-Natal 59/1 (Hayden Rossouw 24*, Matthew Montgomery 19*). KwaZulu-Natal won by nine wickets.

KwaZulu-Natal Inland 90/5 (James Ritchie 34, Robert McGaw 24; Louis Nel 1/6, Nickie Oosthuizen 1/8); Limpopo 62/7 (Johan Harms 17; Jayden Gengan 2/12, Lwando Gqiba 1/6). KwaZulu-Natal Inland won by 28 runs.

South Western Districts 42/7 (Mesuli Vuba 14*; Johannes Lambrecht 2/14); Boland 46/5 (Akeem Minnaar 20*; Tyrique Wessels 3/17). Boland won by five wickets.

Northern Cape 71/4 (Andrew Louw 26; Matt Dewar 1/5); Border 72/2 (Matt Dewar 27*, Stuart Els 24). Border won by eight wickets.

The following matches were abandoned without a ball being bowled – Western Province vs North West; Eastern Province vs Mpumalanga.

Round 2

Eastern Province 113/8 (Mark Amm 35, Callum Francis 26; Stephen de Klerk 2/14, Khutlwano Mokwena 2/18); Northern Cape 116/6 (Resegofaditswe Mothibi 27*, Andrew Louw 21; Mark Amm 3/19. Northern Cape won by four wickets.

Boland 148/4 (Ruan Terblanché 71*, Rudolf Claassen 40, Nkosinathi Ngxoni 30); North West 115/9 (Stiaan Swanepoel 37; Johannes Lambrecht 3/12, Brenton Manuel 2/24). Boland won by 33 runs.

KwaZulu-Natal 121/5 (Caleb Pillay 39, Matthew Montgomery 30, Thamsanqa Khumalo 21*; Ruan Cronjé 2/15); Free State 116/9 (CP Klijnhans 32, Gerald Coetzee 32; Matthew Pollard 4/11, Lifa Ntanzi 2/28). KwaZulu-Natal won by 33 runs.

Namibia 104 (Divan la Cock 25, Erich von Mollendorff 24; Mondli Khumalo 2/4, Michael Brownlee 2/14); KwaZulu-Natal Inland 105/7 (Fraser Jones 30*, Nathaniel Benjamin 23; Mauritius Ngupita 4/12). KwaZulu-Natal Inland won by three wickets.

Limpopo 84 (Fumani Maluleke 24; Reynecke Shaikh 4/17, Prince Trotter 2/15); Northerns 87/1 (Ludwig Kaestner 51*; Wisani Mushwana 32*). Northerns won by nine wickets.

South Western Districts 110/7 (Migael Vermeulen 42; Jordan Collier 2/18); Western Province 112/8 (Lehan Botha 40; Jean Bruiner 2/22, Ayabonga Anthony 2/25). Western Province won by two wickets.

Easterns 98/8 (Maxwell Meyer 26*; Kgaudise Molefe 3/21); Gauteng 100/1 (Mudiwa Chanakira 45*, Cameron Shekleton 22*). Gauteng won by nine wickets.

Mpumalanga 107/8 (Wali Vayani 26, Jacques Vosloo 21; Lilitha Reed 3/20, Luvo Ntsekwa 2/10); Border 77 (Matt Dewar 21, Stuart Els 20; Ewan Lombaard 4/12, Tsepiso Magagula 4/27). Mpumalanga won by 30 runs.

Hosts, Western Province, and Boland are the only unbeaten sides left after the third day of the Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Week in Cape Town.
