Captain, Jodi de Sousa (58), scored one of only two half-centuries on the opening day as he helped his side to a comfortable 56-run victory over St Andrews.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">De Sousa shared an opening partnership of 77 runs with Reuben du Toit (38) which put their side in a commanding position. Du Toit also contributed 22 runs in his side\u2019s six wicket victory over Queen\u2019s during the morning\u2019s matches.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Liam McCarthy (3\/5) caused a lot of problems with his pace against Queen\u2019s High, while Takunda Chanakira (3\/16) was the pick of the bowlers against St Andrews.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Saints will face Waterkloof in an important Pool A match on Saturday. Klofies also defeated St Andrews and Queen\u2019s High in their two opening matches.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If there was to be a Player of the Day named this honour would\u2019ve probably belonged to SW Kemp of Waterkloof. He was the pick of his side\u2019s bowling attack against St Andrews as he grabbed three wickets for a mere 14 runs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In the afternoon\u2019s match against Queen\u2019s High he struck 59 runs which was the highest innings of the day. He also caused the most problems to Queen\u2019s batting line-up as he took another three wickets for 27 runs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Waterkloof\u2019s captain, Simeon de Bruyn, also had a good day with some steady performances against St Andrews (37*) and Queen\u2019s High (26 and 2\/12). Hardus Coetzer also made two valuable contributions with the bat with this 26 runs against St Andrews and 28* against Queen\u2019s.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">SACS is on top of Pool B but won\u2019t expect an easy match on Saturday morning as Kearsney College will be fighting to keep their hopes of making final alive.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">SACS started their campaign in Pretoria off with an impressive 57-run victory over a very dangerous Grey High School outfit. Kai Curren (47) top-scoring for the side from Cape Town.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In their second game SACS cruised to a 75-run victory over Graeme College. Former Protea allrounder Lance Klusener\u2019s son boasting with bowling figures og 2\/14 in this victory.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Kearsney College\u2019s Dean Gibbs (4\/19) boasted the best bowling figures of the opening day as his side lost against Grey High School by 35 runs. St Stithians College won by six wickets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Graeme College 111\/7 (Ryan Bush 45, Sonwabile Tshona 20; Matthew Murray 2\/19, Dean Gibbs 2\/20); Kearsney College 112\/3 (Louis Nel 30, Jean-Luc Talbot 29*, Jared Uys 25; Sonwabile Tshona 1\/13). Kearsney College won by seven wickets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">SACS 136\/7 (Kai Curren 47, Laeeq Cooper 24, Daniel Smith 23; Elih Thorne 2\/31); Grey High School 79 (Jade Smith 24; Nathan Ansell 3\/8, Oscar Welsh 3\/22).
