{"id":30377,"date":"2023-11-17T08:34:59","date_gmt":"2023-11-17T06:34:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cricket.supersportschools.com\/?p=2945"},"modified":"2023-11-17T08:34:59","modified_gmt":"2023-11-17T06:34:59","slug":"badgers-unveil-dynamic-squad-for-2023-khaya-majola","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=30377","title":{"rendered":"Badgers unveil dynamic squad for 2023 Khaya Majola"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2955 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cricket.supersportschools.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Garden-Route-Badgers-300x195.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"260\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers<\/strong> team for the <strong>2023<\/strong> <strong>Coca-Cola u19 Khaya Majola<\/strong> <strong>Cricket Week<\/strong> has been announced and <strong>Ho\u00ebrskool Outeniqua<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Charl Marais<\/strong> has been chosen to captain the team at the prestigious festival in Makhanda in December.<\/p>\n<p>Watch every moment live on <strong>SuperSport Schools &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/supersportschools\">Register Now<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Marais, accompanied by <strong>Zander Nel<\/strong> and<strong> Stefan May,<\/strong> makes Outeniqua the school with the most players in this year&#8217;s side.<\/p>\n<p>They will have a vital role to play, drawing on their collective experience. Nel and Marais are both playing for a second successive year and, while this is May&#8217;s debut at the tournament, he has been in impressive form for their first team since last year.<\/p>\n<p>Adding more depth to the squad are<strong> Elro Spies<\/strong> from<strong> Knysna High School<\/strong> and <strong>Thurstin Murphy<\/strong> from <strong>Bridgton Secondary<\/strong>, two players who boast significant experience as part of the u19 regional team since 2021. Their wealth of knowledge and skills is expected to form the bedrock of the team&#8217;s performances.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ho\u00ebrskool Punt<\/strong> from Mossel Bay is the only other school with more than one player in the Badgers&#8217; squad. <strong>Zane Greyling<\/strong>, Punt&#8217;s captain, and the promising young <strong>Jessie Lewis<\/strong>, who has already earned a spot in the Badgers Academy team, add depth and talent to the line-up.<\/p>\n<p>After missing out on last year&#8217;s tournament because he broke a finger on the final day of trials, Greyling, who is also a top academic performer at Punt, will be eager to showcase his cricketing abilities before matriculating.\u00a0Fittingly, Lewis takes over the reins from his captain in their first team next year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Oakdale<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Corn\u00e9 Kennedy<\/strong> is another exciting prospect who will be available for selection again in 2024.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sibabawle Msi<\/strong> from <strong>Jonga High School<\/strong> has been an integral part of the <strong>Thembalethu Hub<\/strong> team this year and is another seasoned campaigner who has made his way through the age grades since playing for the SWD u15 team in 2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>George High School<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Davino Koert<\/strong> also received his provincial call-up back in 2017 for the SWD u13 team.
