He dominated the opening day of the Peninsula Cricket Week<\/strong> with a remarkable unbeaten 218 runs.<\/p>\n

Thanks to his memorable innings, Bishops put up an intimidating 325\/7 in their innings of the daytime cricket matches.<\/p>\n

The shellacking they received in the field was not, however, the end of Hilton’s misfortunes as the Bishops’ dangerman with the ball, Peyton Leigh<\/strong>, ripped the heart out of the Hilton batting line-up, knocking over 7 for 44, as the boys from the KZN midlands were restricted to only 138 all out.<\/p>\n

Rondebosch Boys’ High’s Daniel Bosman<\/strong> (106*) and David Simon<\/strong> (102*) also put together a masterclass in longer format batting, with both scoring outstanding centuries. They shared an unbeaten 192-run partnership for the sixth wicket, which enabled their side to declare on 303\/5 after 58 overs.<\/p>\n

Time, however, caught up to the Capetonians, as the batsmen from St David’s<\/strong> Marist<\/strong> hung on for a draw.<\/p>\n

A wonderful 135 runs from Wynberg Boys’ High<\/strong>‘s Divan Linde<\/strong> was countered by a fighting unbeaten 106 by Waterkloof<\/strong>‘s Franco Cronj\u00e9<\/strong> and a half-century from the superb Divan Behrens <\/strong>(79). It was, however, an unbroken 134-run partnership for the seventh wicket between Cronj\u00e9 and Franco Schmidt<\/strong> (28*) which breathed new life into the Klofies’ innings after a long day in the field to secure a draw.<\/p>\n

Adam Cannata<\/strong> and Aaeron Edwards’<\/strong> excellent bowling spells gave Pretoria Boys’ High<\/strong> the upper hand after the first innings against St Charles College<\/strong>. Cian Fortmann<\/strong> was the only one who had any answers with the willow in hand. He contributed the highest score of 47 for Saints in a disappointing total of 126 for the side from Pietermaritzburg.<\/p>\n

Pretoria Boys’ High had no trouble chasing down the 127 runs they required for victory. Their opening batsmen, Marc van der Merwe<\/strong> (71*) and Luke Marshall<\/strong> (50*), saw them to a comfortable 10-wicket win.<\/p>\n

Affies<\/strong> enjoyed the better of their draw against SACS. <\/strong>They totalled 307\/8, thanks to half-centuries by Ruben Groenewald<\/strong> (92) and Henr\u00e9 Smith<\/strong> (69).<\/p>\n
