The Wege brothers, as ever, were prominent for the Boishaai first team in their first outing against Outeniqua. Christiaan Wege<\/strong> led the bowling figures, taking 3\/22, while Johan Wege<\/strong> scored a cool 75 with the bat.<\/p>\n

Aden Batt<\/strong> also menaced the Kwagga lineup, capturing 2\/28, before following that up with 2\/8 in the second innings, as Boishaai restricted the visitors to low totals in both of their visits to the crease.<\/p>\n

Dian van der Westhuizen<\/strong> scored 77 to help his side to an imposing 250\/8, assisted by Wege’s innings and JJ van der Sandt<\/strong>‘s unbeaten knock of 55.<\/p>\n

Parel Vallei<\/strong> also started their campaign on a winning note, beating Cornwall Hill College<\/strong> by 73 runs, courtesy of a confident 80 runs scored by Migael van Schaick<\/strong>. The locals put up a challenging total of 249, which they defended, thanks in part to the contributions of Jameel Ismail<\/strong> and HJ Jones,<\/strong> who took three wickets apiece.<\/p>\n

Helpmekaar<\/strong> delivered a dominant performance against Somerset College<\/strong> in their season-opener. Anrich Liebenberg<\/strong> (3\/16) and Waldo Haasbroek<\/strong> (3\/29) helped to contain the local batsmen to a first-innings total of 150.<\/p>\n

The batsmen from the Johannesburg school then set about their task with intent, storming to a massive 275\/4 before declaring.<\/p>\n

Anrich Liebenberg<\/strong>, Hannu Marais<\/strong> and Kyle Swanepoel<\/strong> all added half-centuries to their records as they set up a safe buffer before sending out Somerset for their second innings.<\/p>\n

Henricus Meyer<\/strong> spearheaded the attack in the second outing, claiming 2\/8 as they secured an opening win after Somerset lost their fifth wicket, with the tournament rules deeming the second innings complete after the fifth wicket goes down.<\/p>\n

After trailing by 73 on the first innings, Northcliff<\/strong> produced a spectacular second batting effort to push to within 11 runs of Curro Durbanville<\/strong>, but the locals managed to defend their lead.<\/p>\n

Janr\u00e9 Lourens<\/strong> claimed six wickets and Caleb Inglis<\/strong> knocked over the other four as the duo wreaked havoc on Northcliff’s first innings, sending them packing for a meagre 56 runs.<\/p>\n

After Daniyaal Klinck<\/strong> extended Curro’s lead, the Northcliff batsmen regrouped exceptionally well to score 172 runs before their fifth and final wicket fell, leaving them tantalisingly close to a stunning come-from-behind win.<\/p>\n

Logan Groch<\/strong> also took four wickets for Grey High<\/strong>‘s second team as they defended a low total of 167 to beat the Brackenfell<\/strong> first team.<\/p>\n

Despite an impressive 5\/11 for Ruvan Barnard<\/strong>, HTS Drostdy<\/strong>‘s batsmen were unable to cope with Centurion<\/strong>‘s onslaught as Logan Fourie<\/strong>‘s 4\/25 helped skittle Drostdy for only 51.<\/p>\n

Jayden Potgieter<\/strong>‘s unbeaten 51 in Centurion’s second outing then sealed the deal for the visitors, who made a strong start to the event.<\/p>\n

Roxton Payne<\/strong> and Josh Beck<\/strong> were instrumental in Westville’s<\/strong> telling victory over Garsfontein<\/strong>. The duo combined for seven wickets at the miserly expense of only 22 runs, leaving their Kaeden McAllister<\/strong> an easy target to pick off. He drove the Griffin across the line with an unbeaten 41.<\/p>\n
