Divan de Villiers<\/strong> played a spectacular innings for Affies<\/strong> on Friday, the fourth day of the 2024 Old Mutual Peninsula Cricket Festival<\/strong>, scoring an unbeaten 118 against St David’s Marist Inanda<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

With the help of Vihan Pretorius<\/strong> (82), who already has one highlight-reel innings at the tournament, the team from Pretoria set up a massive 304\/5 to defend.<\/p>\n

Despite the mammoth challenge they faced, St David’s put up a strong fight in a brave attempt to chase down the required total.<\/p>\n

Jason Rowles<\/strong>, who was out just shy of a half-century, led from the front as his side mustered a respectable 244, but Ruben Groenewald<\/strong>‘s 4\/42 helped Affies to a solid 61-run win.<\/p>\n

Diocesan College<\/strong> maintained their perfect dominant run at their home tournament with a fourth win on the trot against a strong Waterkloof<\/strong> side.<\/p>\n

The hosts showed their class, controlling the match throughout. They were outstanding in the field, with Waco Bassick<\/strong> and Tiaan Louw<\/strong> taking three wickets apiece to restrict Waterkloof to a modest total of 136.<\/p>\n

Bishops’ openers, Kashief Joseph<\/strong> and Adnaan Lagadien<\/strong>, understood their assignment and raced to 60 runs each before Luan Ferreira<\/strong> saved some pride for Klofies by dismissing Lagadien just before the end of the game, but by then the visitors’ fate had already been sealed.<\/p>\n

The locals needed less than 18 of their 50 overs to overtake Waterkloof’s score and keep their perfect Peninsula Festival record intact.<\/p>\n

Rondebosch Boys’ High<\/strong> continued to live up to their proud cricketing heritage as they, too, added another decisive victory to their record.<\/p>\n

After putting on a show for the local supporters, with Noah Heath<\/strong>, Daniel Cooke<\/strong> and Joshua Neill<\/strong> posting half-centuries in an imposing total of 281\/8, the ‘Bosch bowlers tore through the Hilton College<\/strong> batting lineup.<\/p>\n

James Kirstin<\/strong> led the charge with 3\/7, while Daniel Bosman<\/strong> and Declan Gillespie<\/strong> each grabbed a brace.<\/p>\n

Special mention should also be made of the two schools’ u15 teams for providing one of the most exciting matches of the day.<\/p>\n

After Schalk Fourie<\/strong>‘s memorable knock of 189 not out drove Rondebosch to a daunting 382\/9, the highest score of the day, Hilton launched a spectacular run chase and fought valiantly to the end.<\/p>\n

Ben Wilson<\/strong> struck an undefeated 122 for the visitors, who finished on a solid 302\/5, which was an impressive feat but still 80 runs shy of the required total.<\/p>\n

Pretoria Boys High<\/strong> managed another spectacular victory, this time against SACS<\/strong>. After their batting lineup crumbled in the face of a relentless attack by Benji Blackburn<\/strong>, Reza Salie<\/strong> and Litha Kraai,<\/strong> the PBHS trio of Adam Cannata<\/strong>, Johan Coetzer<\/strong> and Connor Hall<\/strong> returned the favour.<\/p>\n

Cannata bagged five wickets and a catch as SACS were bowled out for only 89.<\/p>\n

Wynberg Boys’ High<\/strong> outplayed St Charles College<\/strong> with Xavier Garvs<\/strong> stealing the spotlight and smashing 73 runs at better than a run a ball to power his team to victory.<\/p>\n

That came after the Wynberg bowlers had already laid the groundwork for a comfortable win, with Ebrahim Fakir<\/strong> and Divan Linde<\/strong> each snaring the wickets of three Saints’ batsmen.<\/p>\n
