{"id":32610,"date":"2024-01-13T10:56:25","date_gmt":"2024-01-13T08:56:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=32610"},"modified":"2024-01-13T10:56:25","modified_gmt":"2024-01-13T08:56:25","slug":"minnaars-second-century-in-two-days-not-enough-for-hans-moore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=32610","title":{"rendered":"Minnaar&#8217;s second century in two days not enough for Hans Moore"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_32661\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-32661\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-32661\" src=\"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Warren-Minnaar-Courtesy-of-Hans-Moore-333x500.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-32661\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Warren Minnaar (Courtesy of Hans Moore)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Despite <strong>Warren Minnaar<\/strong> continuing his brilliant run of form, <strong>Westville Boys&#8217; High<\/strong> stayed in the fight and pulled off a thrilling victory over <strong>Hans Moore<\/strong> in Paarl on day two of the<strong> 2024 HJS Cricket Week<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Watch the action live on<strong> SuperSport Schools &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/supersportschools\">Register now<\/a> &#8211;<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/live.supersportschools.com\/category\/606f65f91eea03755e56797c\/sub-category\/61d7377f1474ba1102c13c1d\/\">Link to the tournament<\/a><\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Minnaar added a second century to his name in as many days and recorded a third successive unbeaten innings to power Hans Moore to 259\/7.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zander Swart<\/strong>&#8216;s impressive knock of 73 off of 52 deliveries at the end of the innings meant the KZN boys had a mountain to climb when they took to the crease.<\/p>\n<p>Westville opener <strong>Max Robertson<\/strong>, though, delivered a composed knock, scoring 106 runs, to give the Griffin a solid platform for their run chase.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kaeden McAllister<\/strong> assisted further with 77 runs, and suddenly Westville were in a position to secure an impressive victory, with <strong>Chad van Breda<\/strong> seeing them to the win.<\/p>\n<p>They face their toughest challenge of the event thus far on Saturday when they take on <strong>Paul Roos Gimnasium<\/strong> in Stellenbosch, but the KZN side will be encouraged by their battling win over a strong Hans Moore team.<\/p>\n<p>Paul Roos looked strong in their match against <strong>Marais Viljoen<\/strong> as they cruised to victory, courtesy of the bowling of<strong> Neil Barnard<\/strong> and <strong>Luca Plekker,<\/strong> who both picked up three wickets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Darshik Lutchman<\/strong>&#8216;s unbeaten 91 helped <strong>St John&#8217;s College<\/strong> to steamroll their way to 273\/8 against a strong side from <strong>Somerset College<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Johannesburg outfit then backed up their elite batting performance with a bowling masterclass by <strong>Cole Francis<\/strong> (6\/30) and <strong>Kago Masote<\/strong> (3\/31), which curtailed any hopes of a fightback by the locals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Noordheuwel<\/strong>&#8216;s bowlers&#8217; discipline made the difference as they scraped a one-wicket win over <strong>Paarl Gimnasium<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong>Ryan Montanus<\/strong> was at the fore of the Nories&#8217; effort, snaring three Gimmies for 23 runs.<\/p>\n<p>While the Noordheuwel batsmen also struggled to find a rhythm,<strong> Dian Taljaard<\/strong> and <strong>Corn\u00e9 Olivier<\/strong> did enough to put pressure on the local bowlers, which led to them conceding more extras and that proved vital to the outcome of the match.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marius Penning<\/strong> still had some work to do at 180\/9, with another 10 runs required to win, but the tailender remained calm and saw his side to a hard-fought victory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Parel Vallei<\/strong> appeared to be well set after an unbeaten partnership of 105 runs by<strong> Chris Hughes<\/strong> and <strong>Marco Karsten<\/strong> drove them to 231\/5 after 50 overs against <strong>Northern Cape High School<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Kimberley side put up a valiant fight, with <strong>Faizan Kajee<\/strong> scoring 57 runs while weathering 103 deliveries, and <strong>Vonn Basson<\/strong> making 40 off of 55.
