Roman van Zyl<\/strong> led the way for St Andrew’s College <\/strong>as they cruised to a thumping victory over Muir College <\/strong>on Friday at the Makhanda Cricket Festival. The opening bowler’s figures of 5 for 10 had the Muir batsmen in disarray as they stumbled to a disappointing 30 all out.<\/p>\n

This came after William Beamish<\/strong> was among the runs for a second day in a row, striking a classy 82 runs from 102 deliveries. Mitch Coventry<\/strong> also continued his good form, adding 70 runs to his tally for the week.<\/p>\n

Solid contributions from Mark Were<\/strong> (30*, 26b) and Murray Wilson<\/strong> (27, 40b) gave College a further boost as they put up 244\/6 before the declaration came.<\/p>\n

In the Muir second innings, with only five wickets required for victory according to the laws of Time Cricket, Scott Miles<\/strong> led the way for College, bagging three of the five wickets at a cost of five runs, to steer St Andrew’s to a mammoth 209-run victory.<\/p>\n

Jaryd Botha’s<\/strong> 71 led Kingswood College<\/strong> to a first innings’ win of 48 runs over Peterhouse Boys’<\/strong>. His innings, together with a solid contribution of 38 from 78 deliveries by Christopher Zimmerman<\/strong> and an unbeaten 21 from the blade of Ross Thompson,<\/strong> stretched Kingswood’s total to 193.<\/p>\n

Ryan Moyo<\/strong> did the bulk of the damage for the Peterhouse side, claiming four wickets for 43 runs, while Sean Bennett<\/strong> followed up his success with the ball on day one with another three wickets, while conceding 47 runs.<\/p>\n

Tyler Chapman<\/strong> then shone with the bat for the Zimbabwean school, from Marondera, scoring a mature 50 runs from 86 balls and Rukudzo Midzi<\/strong> weighed with a solid 47. Despite those two good knocks, it was not enough as Matt Loon<\/strong> destroyed the Peterhouse innings with a return of four wickets for 24 runs, while Jack Collet<\/strong> also impressed, picking up 4 for 33.<\/p>\n

Murray Tyson<\/strong>‘s and Ashton Williams’s<\/strong> all-round performances secured a 67-run first innings’ victory for Graeme College<\/strong> over Hellenic Academy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Tyson led the way with both bat and ball, top scoring with a fine 64 from 71 balls, which he followed up with three wickets for 29 runs. Williams<\/strong> bagged three wickets for just two runs and contributed a fiery 37 from 29 deliveries.<\/p>\n

Only Daniel Makings <\/strong>appeared comfortable against the Kingswood attack for Hellenic Academy, contributing 32 and 36 not out, while Luke van Zyl was the pick of the Zimbabwean side’s bowlers, taking 2\/40 in Graeme College’s first innings.<\/p>\n
