{"id":33559,"date":"2024-01-27T18:56:29","date_gmt":"2024-01-27T16:56:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=33559"},"modified":"2024-01-27T18:56:29","modified_gmt":"2024-01-27T16:56:29","slug":"gangat-takes-five-as-pearson-triumphs-in-makhanda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=33559","title":{"rendered":"Gangat takes five as Pearson triumphs in Makhanda"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_33577\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33577\" style=\"width: 364px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-33577\" src=\"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Sulaymaan-Gangat-Pearson-e1706371435462-364x500.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"364\" height=\"500\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-33577\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sulaymaan Gangat, Pearson (Photo provided)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Sulaymaan Gangat<\/strong> and <strong>Cayden Wilson<\/strong> undermined <strong>Graeme College&#8217;s<\/strong> run-chase on Saturday to see their side to a 39-run victory in Makhanda.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Pearson<\/strong> bowlers have been on fire lately, with Gangat <a href=\"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/gangat-takes-eight-but-grey-high-triumph\/\">picking up eight wickets against Grey High<\/a> a week ago.<\/p>\n<p>Playing at home, Graeme won the toss and elected to make the visitors bat first.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Divan Els<\/strong>, <strong>Luke Hector<\/strong> and Cayden Wilson stuck it out to make solid contributions, but Pearson mustered only a modest 169 before they were bowled out.<\/p>\n<p>The hosts had time on their side and began their innings with a calm counterattack devoid of any unnecessary risks.<\/p>\n<p>After 15 overs had been bowled, Graeme College was on 53 without loss, but Gangat then struck to provide the spark his side desperately needed.<\/p>\n<p>Gangat added four more wickets to his rapidly growing tally, and conceded only 35 runs, to finish with a decisive return of 5\/35.<\/p>\n<p>Wilson kept the pressure on the hosts by snaring three more for Pearson as they dismissed Graeme for only 130, well shy of their victory target.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, <strong>Framesby<\/strong> flexed their muscles with a huge 261-run victory over <strong>Muir College<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dewan Wessels<\/strong> bludgeoned 126 off of 109 deliveries and his teammate, <strong>Juan Grigor<\/strong>, scalped 5\/34 to spearhead the Framesby assault.<\/p>\n<p>For the third time in a week,<strong> St Andrew&#8217;s College<\/strong> got the better of <strong>Kingswood College<\/strong>, romping to an easy win in a T20 on this occasion.<\/p>\n<p>Watch that game again on <strong>SuperSport Schools &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/supersportschools\">Register now<\/a> &#8211;<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/live.supersportschools.com\/events\/65b3a8c49100e45a032e901d\/\">Link to the game<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Scott Miles<\/strong> and <strong>Roman van Zyl<\/strong> took five wickets and went for only 19 runs between them as Kingswood was restricted to 68\/9.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Jack Collett knocking over 3\/12, in the 13th over of their reply, <strong>Mitch Coventry<\/strong> and <strong>Alex Price<\/strong> scored the winning runs for SAC.
