(Photo: Team PhotoSA)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The favoured teams at the <strong>Vides Water Polo Tournament, <\/strong>being hosted by <strong>Selborne College<\/strong> in East London, got off to a perfect start on Thursday, asserting themselves in the pool and collecting maximum points.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clifton College<\/strong>, <strong>Paul Roos<\/strong>, <strong>St Andrew&#8217;s College<\/strong>, <strong>Reddam House Constantia<\/strong>, and Selborne were a cut above the rest, although the boys from Makhanda were pushed hard.<\/p>\n<p>KwaZulu-Natal&#8217;s Clifton kicked matters off with an emphatic 23-7 win over Gqeberha&#8217;s <strong>Pearson High School<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Makhanda&#8217;s St Andrew&#8217;s College found St Alban&#8217;s College to be a tough test in the <strong>Clarendon High<\/strong> Swimming Pool. There was little in it, but St Andrew&#8217;s eventually sneaked a 6-5 win.<\/p>\n<p>Reddam House came into the event off the back of an 8-14 loss to Paul Roos in round four of the SACS Nite Series the previous day. They, however, looked like a different side, and dominated every facet of their game against Woodridge College, netting 17 goals, while conceding only six.<\/p>\n<p>Paul Roos, on the other hand, made light work of Grey High, scoring 15 times, while the boys from Gqeberha replied with nine goals of their own.<\/p>\n<p>The final match of the day at the Selborne College pool was a clash between the hosts and Cape Town&#8217;s Wynberg Boys High.<\/p>\n<p>Wynberg started the brighter when they opened the scoring early in the first quarter through Aden de Costa.<\/p>\n<p>Selborne launched several attacks on the Wynberg defence, but Christian Foxx remained resolute in the cage, keeping his side in the battle.<\/p>\n<p>Then, <strong>coach Storm Siebert<\/strong>&#8216;s side came out firing in the second chukka, netting twice through <strong>Armand van Rooyen<\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>Mitchell Holl<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>De Costa<\/strong> scored two more goals for Wynberg, to snag a hattrick, but his goals were cancelled out in the final two chukkas when Van Rooeyn scored his second before <strong>Liam Hansen<\/strong> made his presence felt with a hattrick.<\/p>\n<p>Selborne put the nail in the coffin when <strong>Daniel Breetzke<\/strong> got his name onto the scoresheet to seal an 8-4 win for the hosts.<\/p>\n<p>In other matches at the Clarendon Pool, <strong>St David\u2019s Marist Inanda<\/strong> defeated the Grey High 2<sup>nd<\/sup> team 16-2, while <strong>Grey College<\/strong> saw off <strong>Stirling High<\/strong>, taking a 12-5 win.<\/p>\n<p>Day two&#8217;s action begins with a clash between Grey High and <strong>Selborne Collegians<\/strong> at <strong>08:00<\/strong> at the main pool.<\/p>\n<p>The Grey High 2<sup>nd<\/sup> team will face Clifton College at the Clarendon Pool.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Results: Day 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>@Selborne College<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Clifton College 23-7 Pearson High School<br \/>\nSelborne Collegians 9-6 Glenwood House<br \/>\nPaul Roos 15-9 Grey High<br \/>\nSelborne College 8-4 Wynberg Boys High<\/p>\n<p><strong>@ Clarendon High School<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>St David\u2019s Marist Inanda 16-2 Grey High 2<sup>nd<\/sup><br \/>\nSt Andrew\u2019s College 6-5 St Albans<br \/>\nReddam House Constantia 17-6 Woodridge College<br \/>\nGrey College 12-5 Stirling High School<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 2, Friday, 16 February 2024 @ Selborne College<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>08:00 &#8211;<\/strong> Grey High vs Selborne Collegians (10);
