The leg-spinner, Shreshth Kumar, wrapped things up nicely for Jeppe with his contribution of two wickets for only 13 runs.

As had been the case on Wednesday, when Queens recorded a six-run win, the Jeppe batsmen found the going tough. Katlego Sekopane led the charge with the ball for Queens. In an inspired spell, he knocked over three wickets for 25 runs. Opening bowler Martin Willemse (2/37) weighed in with two wickets up front.

Jeppe were wobbling on 88/4, but Munib Ayob fought hard, contributing a fighting 50 from 122 deliveries. Unfortunately for him, only Aiden Reyneke offered decent support, making 22, but that wasn’t enough as they fell short, by the barest of margins.

St David’s Marist Inanda batted superbly against Parktown Boys’ High, with Jason Rowles blasting an exceptional century. He let loose, smashing 23 boundaries in a wonderful 148 runs from only 116 deliveries. Matthew West (130, 134b) was equally impressive performance, hitting 15 boundaries in his innings as Parktown laboured in the field.

Morteza Manack (38) and Reecy Reddy (25*) contributed 63 runs between them towards the end of the innings, helping St David’s to a mammoth total of 385/3 from their 50 overs.

Parktown, however, didn’t go down without a fight. Yahya Baba batted exceptionally well for an unbeaten century, making 105 from 131 balls, with 11 boundaries. Brent Mandizha (51, 44b) also made use of the batting-friendly conditions.

Both sides’ top performers with the ball, Uwais Mahomed (Parktown) and Avela Sibisi (St David’s) claimed the same figures, picking up two wickets for 43 runs.
