\"\"Bishops Diocesan College<\/strong> continued their dominant run in 2024 by beating St Stithians<\/strong> in a low-scoring match by 10 runs on Friday at the Independent Schools Cricket Festival in Pretoria.<\/p>\n

The Capetonians’ Alex Vintcent<\/strong> was their standout with the bat, top scoring with a mature 44 runs from 71 deliveries, which helped his team reach 185\/7 from their 50 overs. Opening batsman Kashief Joseph<\/strong> demonstrated his batting prowess once again, improving his tally for the year by another 39 runs.<\/p>\n

Saints’ South African u19 representative, Richard Seletswane<\/strong>, held up Bishops’ push for victory, showing great composure as he compiled 59 runs from 123 deliveries. Unfortunately for Seletswane, he didn’t receive any significant support, although Cayden Sunker did his bit, making 22.<\/p>\n

Waco Bassick<\/strong> delivered another strong performance with the ball, putting Saints under early pressure and finishing with 3\/37. Tiaan Louw<\/strong> (2\/35) and Peyton Lee<\/strong> (2\/39) supported him well with four wickets between them.<\/p>\n

Joshua Meyer<\/strong> (2\/23) was the pick of the Saints’ bowlers. Cayden Sunker<\/strong> (2\/34) and Pranav Raichetti<\/strong> (2\/37) also removed two Bishops’ batsmen each but, when St Stithians batted, they found the Bishops’ bowling a tough challenge.<\/p>\n

Captain Matthew West<\/strong> led St David’s Marist Inanda<\/strong> to a 37-run victory over Hilton College, making a masterful 94 runs from 136 balls before he was run out.<\/p>\n

He then backed up his fine batting performance by taking three wickets while yielding only 27 runs. Jason Rowles<\/strong>, however, was the pick of the St David’s bowlers, bagging figures of four wickets for just 20 runs.<\/p>\n

Luke Campbell<\/strong> led the Hilton attack, claiming his side’s best figures of three wickets for 25 runs, while Natenzi Denega<\/strong> continued his good rhythm from day one, knocking over 3\/38.<\/p>\n

Robert Burman<\/strong> shone with the bat for Hilton, scoring a mature 58 runs from 92 runs, while James Ogilby<\/strong> battled manfully, scoring a well-played 47 runs.<\/p>\n

Henricus Meyer’s<\/strong> return to form was a sight to behold as Helpmekaar thumped the Titans Invitation team by a massive margin of 140 runs.<\/p>\n

Meyer cracked an unbeaten 130 and picked up 2\/15 with the ball, while Anrich Liebenberg<\/strong> also showed his class, backing up Meyer with 58 runs, and producing Helpmekaar’s best bowling figures of 2\/7.<\/p>\n

Michaelhouse made light work of St George’s College, from Harare. Murray Hall-Jones<\/strong> led a batting onslaught with an unbeaten 82 runs, while Ethan Muir<\/strong> made 72 runs from 99 balls at the top of the order as ‘House posted 260\/6.<\/p>\n

Michaelhouse’s impressive spin twins, Cameron Strudwick<\/strong> (3\/7) and Jean-Luc Rey<\/strong> (3\/12) then tore the heart from the St George’s batting line-up as the Zimbabwean’s spluttered to 49 all out. The opening pair, Ross Moller<\/strong> (2\/4) and Luke Mitchell<\/strong> (2\/10), supported their spinners well.<\/p>\n

Kingswood College<\/strong> bounced back from a loss on the opening day with an impressive five-wicket victory over a struggling Uplands College<\/strong> side.<\/p>\n

David Louden laid down the law, dominating the Uplands’ batsmen to return figures of five wickets for just 18 runs. Matt Loon<\/strong> (3\/22) ensured Louden’s wasn’t a solo effort.<\/p>\n

Under a little pressure, Christopher Zimmerman<\/strong> kept his composure and hit an unbeaten 31 runs to see the side from Grahamstown over the line in the 19th over.<\/p>\n
