The <\/span><b>KwaZulu-Natal <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">outfit had difficulty in gearing up for the 2024 season due to inclement weather in the midlands, but that did not show once they hit the water. The <\/span><b>Graeme Lucas-Bull<\/b>&#8211;<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">coached outfit was as ruthless and clinical as their coach could have asked them to be in their first match. They overran a hapless <\/span><b>Beaulieu College <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">by 24 goals to one.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the afternoon, the KZN side came up against an optimistic <\/span><b>Grey College team <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">that had overcome <\/span><b>St Benedict&#8217;s College <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">10-6 earlier the day. Captain <\/span><b>Luke Davidson <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and his teammates had no trouble overcoming the Bloemfontein-based team by 15 goals to three.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">St Alban&#8217;s was next in line, trouncing <\/span><b>Falcon College <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">19-3. Last year\u2019s semi-finalists were in fine form. After their victory over Falcon, they also overran <\/span><b>Reddam House Helderfontein <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">11-6.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Affies is on course for at least a quarterfinal slot or better, after a strong start to the tournament. The <\/span><b>Juan-Claud Tribelhorn-<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">coached side reached the quarters in 2023 and finished second at the <\/span><b>Grey College ITEC Tournament <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">earlier this month. Affies made light work of their opener against <\/span><b>Crawford <\/b><strong>College<\/strong> (Lonehill)<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, dismissing them 19-3. Then, t<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">he Pretoria school returned to register another double-digit win in the afternoon, thumping <\/span><b>Rand Park <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">24-5.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last year&#8217;s beaten finalists, St David\u2019s Marist Inanda, began the tournament in a similar manner to their start in 2023, with a comprehensive win over <\/span><b>Parktown,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> whom they dispatched 20-1. <\/span><b>Dean Whyte&#8217;s <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">charges stayed true to their coach&#8217;s promise that they were out to redeem themselves after narrowly losing to <strong>St<\/strong> <\/span><b>Andrew&#8217;s <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in last year&#8217;s title-decider.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">St David&#8217;s reaffirmed their intentions in the late afternoon with a 16-3 win over <strong>Woodridge College<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last year, Kearsney duked it out with Affies for the fifth and sixth positions after a commendable run in the tournament. They lost that closely contested encounter 6-7. The KZN side has arrived, however, at this year&#8217;s edition rejuvenated by an injection of new blood into the side. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Coached by <strong>Cameron Miller<\/strong>, the boys from Botha&#8217;s Hill made their intentions crystal clear when they dismembered Crawford <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">29-3.
