{"id":36505,"date":"2024-03-02T21:23:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-02T19:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=36505"},"modified":"2024-03-02T21:23:00","modified_gmt":"2024-03-02T19:23:00","slug":"day-2-kes-semi-final-spots-confirmed-as-race-to-the-final-intensifies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=36505","title":{"rendered":"DAY 2| KES | Semi-final spots confirmed as race to the final intensifies"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_36531\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-36531\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-36531 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/c2efa4b8-a026-49ee-a6b4-80cbe51f428b-400x266.jpg\" alt=\"Picture Credits: Team PhotoSA\" width=\"400\" height=\"266\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-36531\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Picture Credits: Team PhotoSA<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>St John&#8217;s College&#8217;<\/strong>s pursuit of a third straight <strong>Standard Bank King Edward VII Water Polo Tournament<\/strong> title will continue when they square up against <strong>South African College High School<\/strong>\u00a0(SACS) in one of the semi-finals at the <strong>Mark Stevens Aquatic Centre<\/strong> on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The other semi-final will be a Western Cape affair between <strong>Rondebosch Boys&#8217; High<\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>Bishops Diocesan College<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Al four teams have impressed since the tournament started on Friday morning, with the quartet all going two-for-two on the opening day.<\/p>\n<p>The defending champions were drawn in Pool D and dominated against <strong>Paul Roos<\/strong>, <strong>St Andrew&#8217;s College<\/strong>, and <strong>Northwood<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>They were, however, made to work hard for a 12-11 win over their local rivals, <strong>St Stithians College<\/strong>, in the quarterfinals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ross Rovelli<\/strong> starred in that encounter, putting six goals past <strong>Liam Tebbut<\/strong>, while <strong>SA Schools&#8217; defender Greg Pryce<\/strong> was also among the goal scorers, contributing a brace for his side.<\/p>\n<p>SACS, on the other hand, dismantled the hosts, KES, 16-9 in their quarterfinal clash. <strong>Nicholas Fall<\/strong>, also selected for SA Schools in 2023, and <strong>Connor Melling-Williams<\/strong> were assured in front of goal, with both netting hattricks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Devon Card&#8217;<\/strong>s charges will face a stern test when they go up against St John&#8217;s at <strong>08:50<\/strong> on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, another side that has blown away teams at the KES Water Polo Tournament, Rondebosch Boys&#8217; High, will be eager to take down Bishops in the first semi-final.
