Noordheuwel<\/strong> broke the Kwaggas’ hearts at the Outeniqua 101-Year Sports Day<\/strong>, beating the home team 29-18 on Saturday in the final match of an action-packed day of rugby in George.<\/p>\n

When the sides met at the event last year, Outeniqua’s centenary squad kicked off their season with an 18-14 victory, but Noordheuwel was set on revenge when they returned this weekend.<\/p>\n

The Nories’ talisman flyhalf, Jeandr\u00e9 Uithaler<\/strong>, opened their account early on with a penalty, but it was his lightning-quick winger, Lindsey Jansen<\/strong>, who crossed the whitewash first following an interception.<\/p>\n

Jenemo Luiters<\/strong> (winger) followed suit at the other end of the field, diving over in the corner to give the visitors a 15-point buffer.<\/p>\n

It took 26 minutes for Outeniqua to find their bearings, but when they finally did Ruan van Rensburg<\/strong> replied after a rolling maul.<\/p>\n

Further tries by Keenan Jantjies<\/strong> (centre) and Gareth Maree<\/strong> (eighth man) got the hosts to within two points at one stage, but Noordheuwel’s electric centre, Cheswill Jooste<\/strong>, dealt the final blow with a try on the hooter to seal a win for his side.<\/p>\n

The farmers, Framesby<\/strong> and Oakdale Landbou,<\/strong> recorded solid victories over Brackenfell<\/strong> and Ligbron Akademie<\/strong> respectively.<\/p>\n

Brackenfell’s nippy little fullback, Zane van Schalkwyk<\/strong>, scored a brace to secure some pride for the Capetonians, but a stellar performance by Eden Calitz<\/strong> (flanker) and co for Framesby drove their side to a convincing victory.<\/p>\n

Hooker, Ewald Muller<\/strong>, and flyhalf, Logan Muller<\/strong>, also stood out for the Gqeberha outfit.<\/p>\n

Oakdale kept the visitors from Ermelo from scoring, while their stalwarts from last season, Kurt Coetzee<\/strong> (centre) and Duraan Janse van Rensburg<\/strong> (winger) both crossed the line for the side from Riversdal. Young guns Gustav van der Merwe<\/strong> (hooker), Lohan Gerber<\/strong> (eighth man), Kai Pratt<\/strong> (prop) and Lee-Winn Pretorius<\/strong> (winger) also added five-pointers as Oakdale scored a resounding win.<\/p>\n

Worcester Gimnasium<\/strong>, who made waves last season with their exciting running brand of rugby, looked to their loosehead prop to spearhead their attack on Saturday. Armaan Adendorff<\/strong> crossed for two of their three tries as they ran in 21 unanswered points against Langenhoven Gimnasium<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It was a day for the forwards, it seems, as the big tighthead prop, Kian Rademeyer<\/strong>, muscled over for a hat-trick for Pearson<\/strong> when they outplayed Bredasdorp<\/strong> to run up a huge 71-7 victory.<\/p>\n

A moment of magic by Bredasdorp’s flyhalf, Urlinn Henecke<\/strong>, got his side on the board, but it was one-way traffic throughout most of the match.<\/p>\n

Somerset West’s representative, Parel Vallei<\/strong>, started the day with a bang, beating Oudtshoorn<\/strong> 25-7.<\/p>\n

Michael Kent<\/strong>, the victors’ scrumhalf, crossed the try line twice and were it not for a bit of quick thinking by his opposite number, Ronaldo Prins<\/strong>, to send his fullback Imiel Viljoen<\/strong> over in the second half, they would have kept their opponents scoreless.<\/p>\n

Shudley Roda<\/strong>, the PV flyhalf, also played a big part in his side’s success, dotting down a try of his own and adding two conversions and a penalty to their total.<\/p>\n

They play a final pre-season friendly next weekend before returning to the Garden Route to face Oakdale in Riversdal.<\/p>\n
