\"\"The 2023 season of the Gauteng Development League<\/strong> saw three goalkeepers – Thandolwami Mthethwa,<\/strong> from Randburg AFC<\/strong>, and the Kaizer Chiefs<\/strong>‘ duo of Takalani Mazhamba<\/strong> and Mpho Moletsane<\/strong> – take centre stage.<\/p>\n

Together, the trio combined for 18 clean sheets, and Mazhamba\u2019s impressive form was rewarded with an under-17 national call-up for their tour of Morocco last year.<\/p>\n

This season, after only five rounds of fixtures, a new set of exciting shot-stoppers has stepped into the spotlight.<\/p>\n

The class of 2024 has kept at least one clean sheet in the opening rounds and includes Cedrigo Abogo<\/strong> (Kathorus Hyper Academy<\/strong>), Nhlakanipho Jele<\/strong> (RESA<\/strong>), Naphtali Mokoena<\/strong> (Kaizer Chiefs<\/strong>), Katleho Ramotlhabe<\/strong> (Highlands Park<\/strong>), Alex Chetty<\/strong> (TS Galaxy<\/strong>) and the Mamelodi Sundowns<\/strong>‘ pair of Lehlogonolo Mohlabine<\/strong> and Orabile Booysen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

However, 51 goals scored in 30 matches means that the forwards have also been in decent form early on in the season. The current log-leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns, have netted 12 times, while second-placed TS Galaxy have scored 11 goals.<\/p>\n

On the list of top scorers, Sundowns’ rising star, Kamva Moni<\/strong>, leads the pack having struck three times this season, while Supersport United<\/strong>‘s Michael Alagiozoglou<\/strong>, Bohlale Ngwato<\/strong> and Manelisi Mazibuko<\/strong> have all netted twice this season.<\/p>\n

Others on the top 10 list, who also have two goals to their names, are Chiefs’ Mpho Khethang<\/strong>, Kholofelo Masenamela<\/strong> (Randburg AFC), Nkululeko Salat<\/strong> (School of Excellence<\/strong>), Makhama Rantoa<\/strong> (TS Galaxy), Nkululeko Sekese<\/strong> (RESA), Keanan Schoefield (Joburg City<\/strong>), and Rosina Sedibane<\/strong>‘s Maholong Mosereng<\/strong> and Kgotso Sithole<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The competition for spots on the top performers’ list will intensify when the Gauteng Development League returns for match day 6 on Saturday, 6 April, with the action available on DStv Channel 216<\/strong> and through the SuperSport Schools app<\/strong> on mobile devices.<\/p>\n
