U19 Coastal Fixtures<\/strong><\/p>\n

The football season in KwaZulu-Natal kicks off on Monday, 8 April, with\u00a0Glenwood High School,<\/strong> the reigning champions of the KZN High School Football Association’s <\/strong>second term Coastal <\/strong>competition, set for a showdown with Westville Boys’ High School <\/strong>at Queensburgh High.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the 2023 competition, Glenwood eliminated Westville in a penalty shootout in the semifinals.<\/p>\n

Westville’s very successful football programme is led by Dan Haswell<\/strong>, whose brother, Nick<\/strong>, has enjoyed tremendous success with Maritzburg College.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last season was a very good one for Westville football, throughout all of their age groups, and the 1st XI finished it ranked number one in the country. With their undoubted quality and depth, they’ll be among the top teams again.<\/p>\n

Durban High School<\/strong> (DHS)<\/strong>\u00a0takes on Pinetown <\/strong>at the same venue at 15:00. Bechet<\/strong> faces Hillcrest<\/strong>, and Northwood School<\/strong> tackles Port Shepstone<\/strong>, who were the runners-up to Glenwood last year, at 16:10.<\/p>\n

The opening week includes u19 Coastal B clashes, too, on 12 April. Grosvenor<\/strong> goes head-to-head with Amanzimonti<\/strong>, Ashton Ballito<\/strong> tackles New Forest, Empangeni<\/strong> plays Sastri College,<\/strong> and the final match features Queensburgh <\/strong>against Redwood<\/strong>, also at Queensburgh.<\/p>\n

Inland Fixtures<\/strong><\/p>\n

Maritzburg College’s tradition is to always start each match on one knee.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

On Thursday, 11 April, the KZN High School Football Association’s u19 Inland <\/strong>competition kicks off, with Maritzburg College beginning their quest to defend their title against Ixopo<\/strong>. The match takes place at College, on Barns, with kick-off at 15:00.<\/p>\n

College will be trying to emulate a spectacular 2023, which began with them winning the Inland title, which was then followed by the Primo Big 10 Cup<\/strong>\u00a0and the Pietermaritzburg and Midlands FA Cup <\/strong>titles.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile the College 2nd XI<\/strong> takes on Linpark<\/strong>, the team the 1st side edged out 1-0 in last year’s final.\u00a0Carter High <\/strong>and Haythorne <\/strong>meet at 16:00.<\/p>\n

On 12 April, at Alexandra High, Heritage<\/strong> takes on Riverswood<\/strong>, Northbury<\/strong> does battle with Thornhill<\/strong>, Maritzburg College B meets ML Sultan<\/strong>, and Edendale<\/strong> has a date with the Alexander High School B team.<\/p>\n
