{"id":41966,"date":"2024-04-19T16:58:38","date_gmt":"2024-04-19T14:58:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=41966"},"modified":"2024-04-19T16:58:38","modified_gmt":"2024-04-19T14:58:38","slug":"the-eastern-cape-gears-up-for-enthralling-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=41966","title":{"rendered":"The Eastern Cape gears up for an enthralling weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_39513\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-39513\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-39513\" src=\"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Graeme-College-2023-400x266.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"266\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-39513\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo Courtesy: Graeme College<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Eastern Cape is in for a treat with plenty of exciting matchups across the region this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The game of the day sees <strong>Dale College<\/strong> taking on <strong>Queen&#8217;s College Boys&#8217; High School<\/strong> in Komani.<\/p>\n<p>At home against <strong>Grey High School<\/strong> last weekend, Dale took the honours in a tight contest by seven points, 32-25.<\/p>\n<p>Queen&#8217;s College has enjoyed an impressive run over the last three weeks, beating <strong>Selborne College<\/strong> 26-21 in East London last time out, while also keeping <strong>Stirling<\/strong> and <strong>Ben Vorster<\/strong> off the scoreboard in one-sided 50-0 and 38-0 victories.<\/p>\n<p>With a number of the Queen&#8217;s players representing <strong>Border<\/strong> at the <strong>Grant Khomo Week<\/strong> last year and captain <strong>Mda Mbasa<\/strong> playing in the <strong>Academy Week<\/strong> side, the hosts, who are celebrating the school&#8217;s 166th Reunion this weekend, pose a huge threat against Dale.<\/p>\n<p>Their tighthead prop <strong>Abulele Bolotini<\/strong> represented Border at the u18 <strong>Craven Week<\/strong> last year and will be aiming to build on that achievement as he pushes for a spot in the squad again this year.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/supersportschools.com\/\">SuperSport Schools <\/a><\/strong>will broadcast the derby matches live, with the 1st XV game kicking off at 15:00.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Port Rex Technical High School<\/strong> hosts Selborne College, keen to get one over their rivals from East London.<\/p>\n<p>Selborne&#8217;s 21-26 loss to Queens&#8217;s last weekend was the second time this season they&#8217;ve gone down by that score, with <strong>Pretoria Boys High<\/strong> beating them 26-21 two weeks earlier.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Graeme College<\/strong> faces <strong>Hudson Park<\/strong> and a closely contested encounter is expected.<\/p>\n<p>Graeme features <strong>Marcus<\/strong> and <strong>Ashton Williams<\/strong> at flyhalf and inside centre respectively. They&#8217;re twins, and they played in the 1st XV last year.
