Kaizer Chiefs enjoyed a good weekend in the Gauteng Development League, with their u19 team beating Tuks 5-2.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Just when many believed that SuperSport United<\/strong> had announced themselves as real title contenders this season, following a stunning clean sweep of Panorama FC<\/strong> last weekend, Mamelodi Sundowns<\/strong> inflicted a humbling 3-1 defeat on the sky blues of Tshwane at Clapham High School<\/strong> on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Two of the league’s most exciting forwards, Bohlale Ngwato<\/strong> and Michael Alagiozulu<\/strong>, had already made a big impression in the SuperSport United colours, prompting many to predict bright things for the club in this season’s Gauteng Development League<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

However, their toughest challenge presented itself on Sunday, with United facing a red-hot Sundowns side away from home.<\/p>\n

Despite the tough task that awaited them, many still picked SuperSport to pull off one of the upsets of the season. Then, when the United u13 team beat Sundowns 2-1, for a first ever win over the Brazilians, that belief was bolstered.<\/p>\n

However, coach Surprise Moriri<\/strong>‘s Sundowns’ u19 side showed up and showed off once again, recording a 3-1 win to maintain their unbeaten run in the league thus far.<\/p>\n

In other results, Kaizer Chiefs<\/strong> was also one of the winners, convincingly beating Tuks 5-2 at the Naturena Village<\/strong>, while the defending champions, Highlands Park<\/strong>, fresh off a draw against Chiefs, which was preceded by a defeat against Sundowns, got back to winning ways at the Greek Sporting Club<\/strong>, where they beat Joburg City<\/strong> 2-1.<\/p>\n

Jomo Cosmos<\/strong> and Randburg AFC<\/strong> shared 1-1 draws with Wits Junior<\/strong> and Rosina Sedibane Modiba<\/strong> respectively.<\/p>\n

East Rand Athletic Club<\/strong> pulled off a shock when they lowered the colours of the Remember Elite Sport Academy (RESA)<\/strong>, taking a 2-1 win, while NWU Vaal<\/strong> cruised to a 3-0 win over Sevens Academy<\/strong> to infuse some momentum into their campaign.<\/p>\n
