Affies had good reason to smile after a nail-biting penalty shootout win over Collegiate in the quarterfinals of the All Girls Festival.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Afrikaanse Ho\u00ebr Meisieskool, Pretoria<\/strong>, and Rhenish<\/strong> Girls’ High School<\/strong> will meet in the final of the All Girls Festival<\/strong>, on Saturday morning, in Potchefstroom.\u00a0Both teams were on form on Friday.<\/p>\n

Red-hot Rhenish hit the field and breezed past Wynberg <\/strong>in the last eight, rolling to a 5-0 win. Then, they slipped past Oranje <\/strong>in the semi-finals, winning 3-1 in a penalty shootout, after the teams had finished regulation time tied at 0-0.<\/p>\n

Rhenish built up momentum from Thursday, which included a massive 13-0 opening victory over Jeppe High School for Girls<\/strong>, followed by a 1-1 draw with their Stellenbosch rivals, HMS Bloemhof<\/strong>. They added two more wins, without conceding a goal, defeating Danville Park Girls’ High School<\/strong> 2-0 and Durban Girls’ High<\/strong> 1-0.<\/p>\n

With three wins and a draw, and with 11 points in the bag, they topped Pool B.<\/p>\n

Affies, meanwhile, fought tooth and nail to overcome Gqeberha’s Collegiate Girls’ High School<\/strong> 2-0 from the penalty spot, after a goalless draw, and then held off Paarl Girls’ High<\/strong>, securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory to book their place in the tournament decider.<\/p>\n

The 2023 finalist, Eunice<\/strong>, will face HMS Bloemhof for fifth place on Saturday. This comes after a they scored a 1-0 win over Wynberg on Friday, before going down 0-2 to their Bloemfontein rivals, Oranje.<\/p>\n

Despite the bump in the road on day two, the soon-to-be former champions enjoyed a fair run on the opening day, when they won three matches, which included a big 9-0 win over the hosts, The High School for Girls, Potchefstroom<\/strong>, a tight 1-0 victory over Pietermaritzburg Girls’ High School<\/strong>, and a 2-0 win over St Michael’s<\/strong>, also of Bloemfontein. They were, however, beaten 1-0 by Collegiate.<\/p>\n

The losing semi-finalists, Paarl Girls’ High and Oranje will face off for third place on Saturday at 09:20 on the NWU Astro A<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
