{"id":46930,"date":"2024-05-27T12:12:58","date_gmt":"2024-05-27T10:12:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=46930"},"modified":"2024-05-27T12:12:58","modified_gmt":"2024-05-27T10:12:58","slug":"hudson-victorious-in-komani-while-dsg-vs-pearson-ends-in-a-stalemate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=46930","title":{"rendered":"Hudson victorious in Komani while DSG vs Pearson ends in a stalemate"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_46933\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-46933\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-46933\" src=\"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2024-05-25-at-14.30.59_277f72ab-400x278.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: Hudson Park High School\" width=\"400\" height=\"278\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-46933\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Hudson Park High School<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After a three-week lay-off and time away from the turf, the <strong>Hudson Park<\/strong> girls&#8217; hockey side returned to action on the weekend and beat <strong>Queenstown Girls&#8217; High<\/strong> 2-0 in a highly anticipated match.<\/p>\n<p>With the win, Hudson continues to pad an impressive run of results which dates back to their pre-season matches in March.<\/p>\n<p>In their in-season derby matches, Hudson kicked their campaign off with a 1-0 win over <a href=\"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/hudson-high-in-confidence-with-season-opener-looming\/\"><strong>Cambridge High School<\/strong><\/a> last month, when <strong>Inathi Lubelwana<\/strong> netted the solitary goal.<\/p>\n<p>Soon after that, the team headed to Knysna for the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/hudson-park-ticks-all-the-right-boxes-at-oakhill-co-ed-festival\/\">Oakhill Festival<\/a><\/strong>, where they recorded five victories in their seven games.<\/p>\n<p>They returned home, had a weekend off, and then travelled to Makhanda to face a dangerous <strong>DSG <\/strong>side.<\/p>\n<p>Hudson, despite showing grit and character in that clash, were undone by the hosts, losing 1-2.<\/p>\n<p>They entered the clash against Queenstown Girls&#8217; High, chasing another win, ahead of a meeting with <strong>Stirling High School<\/strong> next week.<\/p>\n<p>Playing on the<strong> Chris Harker AstroTurf<\/strong> at Queen&#8217;s College, <strong>Busiwe Mayekiso<\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>Mackenzie Goss <\/strong>struck for the East London school to see them to victory.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <strong>SuperSport Schools Plus<\/strong> after the match, head coach <strong>Jerry Snyman<\/strong> said he was pleased with the performance and believes his side will draw inspiration from it.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s been three weekends since we&#8217;ve had a fixture, but it is good to be back on the turf,&#8221; he commented.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The girls played well, had good structure, and maintained the goals for the season. The intensity could have been better for the match, but the GHS team is a force to be reckoned with.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This win is a good start ahead of the Stirling derby next weekend, as well as a step in the right direction as we face Clarendon in the first derby in term three.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have a few girls in the Border set up, so they will be playing hockey during the holidays.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hudson Park&#8217;s showdown with Stirling High will be their final match of the term.<\/p>\n<p>In term three, they will take on Clarendon, both Stirling and Cambridge High in return fixtures, and also host <strong>Kingsridge High School for Girls<\/strong> and <strong>Framesby<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In an eagerly awaited clash, <strong>DSG Makhanda,<\/strong> and <strong>Pearson High<\/strong> played to a 3-3 draw.<\/p>\n<p>Pearson made the trip to Makhanda after a successful visit in George, where they beat <strong>York High<\/strong> and <strong>Outeniqua<\/strong>, which was followed by a 2-0 win over Framesby in the <strong>u18 EP Knockout Cup<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>DSG, on the other hand, tasted defeat last weekend, going down <strong>1-2<\/strong> against <strong>Collegiate Girls&#8217; High<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>It was Pearson who started the brighter on Saturday, opening the scoring in the first chukka through <strong>Zoey Mostert<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>They doubled their lead in the second, and this time it was <strong>Chanelle Venter<\/strong> who netted.<\/p>\n<p>DSG came alive in the third chukka, scoring twice through<strong> Lucy Holderness<\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>Kayleigh Clayton<\/strong>.
