Photo credits: <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/helena.dalbock\/photos\">Helena Dalbock<\/a><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In their final match of term two, on Friday night, <strong>Selborne College <\/strong>put on a masterclass to dismantle <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/stirling-to-face-selborne-college-head-on\/\">Stirling High School<\/a><\/strong> 6-2, and head into the break unbeaten in the Border region.<\/p>\n<p>Selborne entered the clash after a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Makhanda&#8217;s<strong> St Andrew\u2019s College<\/strong> last weekend at the same venue.<\/p>\n<p>Stirling, on the other hand, had been edged out 3-2 by their rivals, <strong>Hudson Park<\/strong>. They approached Friday night&#8217;s match with confidence but were also well aware of how dangerous coach <strong>KJ Friend<\/strong>&#8216;s side can be when firing on all cylinders.<\/p>\n<p>Since returning from a rather disappointing <strong>Hibbert Shield<\/strong> campaign, where they finished in ninth spot, and just before that lost 2-5 to<strong> Grey College<\/strong>, Selborne, in their in-season derby matches, have been a cut above the rest of the Border region.<\/p>\n<p>Before the Stirling match, they thumped <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/selborne-breezes-past-dale-grey-thumps-pearson-at-the-rectory\/\">Dale College 10-1<\/a><\/strong> at their reunion and defeated<strong> Cambridge High<\/strong> 6-0, before being held to the aforementioned draw by St Andrew&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>The side, captained by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/player-profile-tre-gilbert-selborne-college\/\">Tre&#8217; Gilbert<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/player-profile-tre-gilbert-selborne-college\/\">,<\/a> was focussed on ending the term on a positive note and they did exactly that at the expense of coach <strong>Brett Stirk<\/strong>&#8216;s side.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thomas Caswell<\/strong>\u00a0and Gilbert struck twice each for Selborne, while\u00a0<strong>Jaques van der Merwe<\/strong> and <strong>Daniel Sirgel<\/strong>, who have also frequently been among the goal scorers, scored one each.<\/p>\n<p>Stirling responded with goals from Chad Clark-Evans, and <strong>Hisharm Pillay<\/strong>. Pillay will showcase his skills with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/border-confirms-strong-team-for-sashoc-national-week-in-bloemfontein\/\">Border<\/a> <\/strong>at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/border-confirms-strong-team-for-sashoc-national-week-in-bloemfontein\/\">SASHOC National Week<\/a><\/strong> in Bloemfontein later this month.<\/p>\n<p>In Gqeberha, <strong>Pearson High School<\/strong> was made to work hard for a 1-0 win over <strong>Woodridge College<\/strong>. The game was initially scheduled for the first weekend of June, but, due to very heavy rain, it was postponed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Graeme College<\/strong>, after going down 0-2 to <strong>Dale College <\/strong>last weekend, bounced back with a win over <strong>Port Alfred<\/strong> by the same scoreline.<\/p>\n<p><strong>St Andrew&#8217;s College <\/strong>and <strong>Kingswood College<\/strong> picked up crucial wins ahead of the highly anticipated <strong>K-Day<\/strong> next week.<\/p>\n<p>College travelled to <strong>Queen&#8217;s College<\/strong>, where goals by <strong>Connor McNamara<\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>Andrew Holmes <\/strong>secured a hard-fought 2-1 win for coach<strong> Dean Ferreira&#8217;<\/strong>s team.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile,<strong> Kingswood<\/strong> visited Qonce for a showdown with Dale. <strong>Chris Painting<\/strong> gave the Makhanda boys the lead before the contest was called off in the final chukka due to what was cited as &#8220;bad light&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Next week\u2019s action in the Eastern Cape will see Kingswood and St Andrew&#8217;s College in the spotlight, battling it out for K-Day bragging rights.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">You can catch all that action<strong> LIVE<\/strong> on<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/live.supersportschools.com\/\"> SuperSport Schools<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RESULTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>St Andrew&#8217;s College 2-1 Queen&#8217;s College<br \/>\nSelborne College 6-2 Stirling High School<br \/>\nKingswood College 1-0 Dale College<br \/>\nPearson High School 1-0 Woodridge College<br \/>\nGraeme College 2-0 Port Alfred High School<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In their final match of term two, on Friday night, Selborne College put on a masterclass to dismantle Stirling High School 6-2, and head into the break unbeaten in the Border region.
