{"id":51807,"date":"2024-07-01T10:44:22","date_gmt":"2024-07-01T08:44:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=51807"},"modified":"2024-07-01T10:44:22","modified_gmt":"2024-07-01T08:44:22","slug":"sa-rugby-engen-ready-to-fuel-another-200k-young-players","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=51807","title":{"rendered":"SA Rugby, Engen ready to fuel another 200k young players"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-9134\" src=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/SARugbySmall-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"SARugbySmall\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/SARugbySmall-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/SARugbySmall-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/SARugbySmall.jpg 469w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>The 2024 edition of the nationwide grassroots, Get Into <span data-markjs=\"true\">Rugby<\/span> (GIR) programme targeted at children aged six to 13 is officially underway and heads to the Free State province on Thursday, 18 July.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A festival event, two days before the world champions\u2019 Test Match against Portugal in Bloemfontein, will take place to officially mark the return of the Engen-sponsored Get Into <span data-markjs=\"true\">Rugby<\/span> season.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The grassroots <span data-markjs=\"true\">rugby<\/span> initiative <span data-markjs=\"true\">sa<\/span>w 244 788 boys and girls play the game across all nine provinces of the country in 2023, touching the lives of 114 281 boys and 130 507 girls, who might previously have never experienced organised sport, let alone <span data-markjs=\"true\">rugby<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The programme also offers young, aspirant <span data-markjs=\"true\">rugby<\/span> coaches, both male and female, an opportunity to develop their <span data-markjs=\"true\">rugby<\/span> coaching skills \u2013 a key aspect that aligns with Engen Sports\u2019 values of creating a holistic platform for youth sports development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Engen Brand &amp; Sponsorship Manager, Tsholo Tiro, <span data-markjs=\"true\">sa<\/span>id that Engen was looking forward to another season of impacting and contributing to the growth of <span data-markjs=\"true\">rugby<\/span> in South Africa through the programme.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe Engen Get Into <span data-markjs=\"true\">Rugby<\/span> programme is quite important to Engen due to its unique ability to reach children at the grassroots level,\u201d <span data-markjs=\"true\">sa<\/span>id Tiro.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOver the years, sport has proven to be a fundamental aspect of the growth of children. As proud sponsors of this programme, Engen takes pride in contributing to a unique platform that encourages not only sport development, but the holistic development of the children to ensure that <span data-markjs=\"true\">rugby<\/span> and society benefit from well-groomed future <span data-markjs=\"true\">rugby<\/span> players.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The festival in Bloemfontein will be visited by Springbok players to add inspiration and impetus to the young players, while Rian Oberholzer, CEO of <span data-markjs=\"true\">SA<\/span> <span data-markjs=\"true\">Rugby<\/span> emphasised the importance of providing new experiences and opportunities to young people.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe Get Into <span data-markjs=\"true\">Rugby<\/span> programme has successfully introduced hundreds of thou<span data-markjs=\"true\">sa<\/span>nds of children to <span data-markjs=\"true\">rugby<\/span> and sport over the many years and we\u2019re grateful for Engen\u2019s continued support,\u201d <span data-markjs=\"true\">sa<\/span>id Oberholzer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis programme is the first rung on a ladder which leads to our men\u2019s and women\u2019s Springbok teams.
