Jeppe will be aiming to add another big name to the list of teams they’ve conquered in 2024 when they travel to Krugersdorp on Saturday to face the intimidating Monnas’ Wit Bulle.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, the Jeppe 1st XV etched its name into the history books by beating the mighty Grey College 22-19 at the NMI Toyota North\/South Festival <\/a><\/strong>at Affies earlier this year.<\/p>\n

Since then, though, the men from Johannesburg haven’t quite lived up to the hype and their form has been somewhat up and down.<\/p>\n

After beating Grey, they went down 26-39 to Affies in Pretoria, and that was followed by a 28-38 loss to their rivals, King Edward VII, a week later.<\/p>\n

Monnas’ Head Coach and Director of Rugby, Tjaart van der Walt<\/strong>, however, said Jeppe will present a fierce challenge: “They are a really good team, they don’t have three SA Schools representatives without any good reason. They can beat anyone on any given day, as they showed earlier this year.”<\/p>\n

Captain and outside centre Kuthadzo Rasivhaga<\/strong> will be the main threat to the home side. Just a few weeks ago, he set the Ras van Rooyen alight with his devastating ability, which earned him the nickname of “Intercept King”, and he will be keen to capitalise on any opportunities available to him on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Up front, vice-captain and eighth-man Risima Khosa<\/strong>\u00a0and loosehead prop, Andre Poulton<\/strong>, will aim to counter the massive Monnas’ pack of forwards. Both represented the SA Schools A side against SA Schools two weeks ago on the same field.<\/p>\n

Monnas possesses one of the most intimidating forward packs at the schoolboy level in South Africa this year.\u00a0Led by the imposing figure of Jacques Botha<\/strong>, who stands 2.06 metres tall and tips the scale at 128 kg, and RJ Barnard<\/strong> on the side of the scrum, the Wit Bulle will be out to avenge a 24-30 loss last year in Johannesburg.<\/p>\n

At the back, right-wing Kealan Milton<\/strong> and left-wing Ernesto Oersen<\/strong> will need to be watched closely by the Jeppe defenders. They both possess quick footwork and impressive top-end speed.<\/p>\n

Will Jeppe be able to withstand the Monnas’ Diesel Engine, or will Rasivhanga and the rest of his dangerous backline get the better of the Monnas’ defence? An entertaining 70 minutes awaits.<\/p>\n
