{"id":54552,"date":"2024-08-08T12:02:37","date_gmt":"2024-08-08T10:02:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=54552"},"modified":"2024-08-08T12:02:37","modified_gmt":"2024-08-08T10:02:37","slug":"westvilles-dominance-to-be-challenged-at-glenwood-sevens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=54552","title":{"rendered":"Westville&#8217;s dominance to be challenged at Glenwood Sevens"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_54559\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-54559\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-54559 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/rugby-st-charles-ajibade-030824-400x276.jpg\" alt=\"Raphael Ajibade will be a key player for St Charles College at the Glenwood Sevens.\" width=\"400\" height=\"276\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-54559\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Raphael Ajibade will be a key player for St Charles College at the Glenwood Sevens.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>With the 15-man rugby season in KwaZulu-Natal now completed, the Sevens scene in the province hots up this weekend at the <strong>Glenwood Sevens<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Glenwood<\/strong>, <strong>Northwood<\/strong>, <strong>Durban High School (DHS)<\/strong>, <strong>Vryheid Landbou<\/strong>, <strong>Pinetown Boys&#8217; High<\/strong> and <strong>Maritzburg College<\/strong> will all be in action for a first time in 2024 in the u17 competition.<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;ll be joined by <strong>Clifton College<\/strong>, <strong>Kearsney College<\/strong>, <strong>Hilton College<\/strong>, <strong>St Charles College<\/strong>, <strong>Westville Boys&#8217; High<\/strong> and <strong>Michaelhouse<\/strong>, who were part of the Saints Sevens last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>At the Pietermaritzburg event, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/westville-edges-out-st-charles-in-saints-sevens-final\/\">Westville came from behind to beat St Charles in the final<\/a><\/strong>. That made them back-to-back winners after they defeated Michaelhouse in the<strong> Clifton Sevens&#8217; <\/strong>final on 21 July.<\/p>\n<p>Westville featured an u17 team at both events, so they&#8217;ll be a settled unit ahead of Saturday&#8217;s competition. Among the first timers on Saturday are a number of schools that enjoyed impressive seasons, including DHS and Northwood, who produced <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/dhs-are-kzns-best-in-2024-northwood-a-close-second\/\">the top two 1st XVs in KZN<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Last season, DHS took the title, edging out Westville 21-19 in the final.<\/p>\n<p>Sixteen teams will contest the u17 tournament, while 12 will battle it out in the u15 age category.<\/p>\n<p>Last weekend, Michaelhouse won the Saints Sevens, beating Westville in the final, while Clifton surprised some and narrowly missed out on the title-decider on points&#8217;
