\"\"The Gauteng Women’s Development League (GWDL)<\/strong> will be streamed live this Sunday, 11 August, on the SuperSport Schools app <\/strong>and online.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

As South Africa celebrates Women’s Month,\u00a0Remember Elite Sport Academy (RESA)<\/strong> is set to host round 16 of the u16 GWDL at President Park<\/strong> in Vereeniging.<\/p>\n

With seven weeks remaining in the season, Mamelodi Sundowns<\/strong> enjoys a seven-point advantage at the top of the table, with an exemplary record of 15 wins from 15 matches.<\/p>\n

Under the leadership of coach Rhoda Mulaudzi,<\/strong> the team has excelled offensively, averaging almost five goals per game, while smoothly transitioning from defence to attack.<\/p>\n

A key strength lies in their midfield partnership of Zihle Mkhize<\/strong>\u00a0and Moothosamy Amara<\/strong>, while their defence has been miserly, giving up only one goal per five matches played.<\/p>\n

The Brazilians, the defending champions, have once again established themselves as the team to beat in the GWDL. On Sunday, though, they will face their toughest opposition.<\/p>\n

Second placed Sundowns takes on JVW<\/strong> and a tightly contested clash is expected. In their previous encounter, ‘Downs scored near the end of the game to snatch a narrow 1-0 win.<\/p>\n

Afterwards, coach Mulaudzi remarked: “Every time we face JVW, its a war.”<\/a> Expectations for the clash at President Park are elevated. It’s a battle of one versus two and a win for JVW would pull them to within four points of the pacesetters.<\/p>\n

Looking at it from a different point of view, JVW is only three points, or one win, ahead of third placed Tuks<\/strong>, while RESA is just four points off the second placed side.<\/p>\n

There is likely to be some movement in the standings because Tuks and RESA will also face one another on Sunday.<\/p>\n

They’ve both won 11 of their 15 games. Tuks has lost only twice all season long and RESA three times. They’ve performed consistently well, although there have been a small number of disappointments, where they have dropped points.<\/p>\n

At the opposite end of the standings, the bottom club, Edenvale FC<\/strong>, is set to take on Refilwe FC<\/strong>, the club which is just above them in the standings. Six points separate the two.<\/p>\n

Two weeks ago, Edenvale clinched their first victory of the season, scoring a 2-1 win over Kempton Park<\/strong>. They’ll be eager to emulate that performance to close the gap on Refilwe.<\/p>\n
