{"id":55844,"date":"2024-08-27T18:02:37","date_gmt":"2024-08-27T16:02:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=55844"},"modified":"2024-08-27T18:02:37","modified_gmt":"2024-08-27T16:02:37","slug":"afrobasket-2024-draw-reveals-sas-opponents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=55844","title":{"rendered":"AfroBasket 2024 draw reveals SA&#8217;s opponents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-55954\" src=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/FIBA-Logo-27-08-24-400x400.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/>The roster of 12 teams has been finalised as basketball enthusiasts across Africa eagerly await the forthcoming <b>F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Internationale de Basketball (FIBA) u18 AfroBasket 2024,<\/b> which takes place in <strong>Pretoria<\/strong> from 2-14 September.<\/p>\n<p>The divisions for the boys&#8217; and girls&#8217; competitions were officially announced during a draw, held on Sunday, in Kigali, Rwanda.<\/p>\n<p>The primary objectives of the competition extend beyond securing the title; the finalists will be granted an opportunity to represent Africa at the <strong>FIBA u19 Basketball World Cup in 2025<\/strong>, in Czechia.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s an opportunity to play at the highest level and to showcase the talent that lies on the African continent, and it&#8217;s also a chance for the players to create further opportunities for themselves in the game.<\/p>\n<p>Both the boys&#8217; and girls&#8217; divisions have been divided into three groups, with each consisting of four teams.<\/p>\n<p>In the girls&#8217; division, the tournament host, <strong>South Africa,<\/strong> is in Group A, alongside <strong>Tunisia, Rwanda<\/strong>, and<strong> Cameroon.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the boys&#8217; division, South Africa is in <strong>Group C<\/strong>, where they will face <strong>Morocco, Zambia<\/strong>, and <strong>Rwanda<\/strong>, with the latter and <strong>Cote d\u2019Ivoire <\/strong>having been granted wildcard slots in the field.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Draw: Girls<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Group A<\/strong>: 1. South Africa, 2. Tunisia, 3. Cameroon, 4. Rwanda.<br \/>\n<strong>Group B<\/strong>: 1. Mali, 2. Morocco, 3. Zambia, 4. Angola.<br \/>\n<strong>Group C<\/strong>: 1. Egypt, 2. Zimbabwe, 3. Uganda, 4. Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Draw: Boys<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Group A<\/strong>: 1. Mali, 2. Cote d\u2019Ivoire, 3. Cameroon, 4. Senegal<br \/>\n<strong>Group B<\/strong>: 1. Egypt, 2. Angola, 3. Uganda, 4. Nigeria<br \/>\n<strong>Group C<\/strong>: 1. South Africa, 2. Morocco, 3. Zambia, 4.
