The second week of basketball action around the country stretched far and wide with schools from Kwazulu-Natal, Gauteng, and the Eastern Cape in action.<\/p>\n

In KZN, Kearsney College<\/strong> welcomed Glenwood High<\/strong> to The SportZone<\/strong> and dominated the visiting outfit from the jump ball.<\/p>\n

The visitors struggled to score, and Kearsney took advantage of their lack of defence, scoring a consistent 20 points in the first two quarters, while holding the visitors to single points in each quarter, to take an imposing 40-13 lead into the break.<\/p>\n

When the teams returned to the court after half-time, Kearsney ramped up their scoring, adding 30 points in the third quarter.<\/p>\n

Glenwood managed to double their half-time score, but they were well out of the contest.<\/p>\n

The clock was run in the fourth quarter to end the game quicker, which left Kearsney the handsome winner by an 87-30 margin.<\/p>\n

Connor Grenfell<\/strong> (13), Lubanzi Mseleku<\/strong> (12), Lwandile Njapha<\/strong> (12), and Daniel Prinsloo<\/strong> (11) led from the front to see the hosts through to a big home win.<\/p>\n

In a clash of top teams, Northwood<\/strong>, playing at home, emerged victorious over Westville<\/strong>, winning by a 71-64 scoreline.<\/p>\n

Hilton College<\/strong> beat St Charles<\/strong> 69-64 in a tight clash, Durban High School<\/strong> saw off Michaelhouse<\/strong> 54-44, and Maritzburg College<\/strong> beat Clifton<\/strong> 78-34 as all the KZN winners won at home.<\/p>\n

In Gauteng, St Benedict’s<\/strong> recorded a 48-41 victory over St John’s<\/strong> in something of an upset. St John’s recently beat Bennies<\/strong><\/em>, on their way to winning the American International School of Johannesburg Basketball Tournament<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

St Alban’s<\/strong> beat Jeppe<\/strong> 60-53, in a tight defensive battle, St Stithians<\/strong> recorded a narrow 34-29 victory over St David’s,<\/strong> while the clash between King Edward VII (KES)<\/strong>\u00a0and Pretoria Boys High<\/strong> was also all about defence, with KES edging out PBHS 36-33.<\/p>\n

In the Eastern Cape, down in the windy city of Gqeberha, Grey High<\/strong> hosted Queen’s College<\/strong>, B-Blessed<\/strong>, and Kingswood College<\/strong>. With the home-ground advantage, Grey High beat Queen’s College 24-13, while B-Blessed beat the boys from Komani 22-13 defeat.<\/p>\n

Queen’s picked up one win, beating Kingswood College 21-12.<\/p>\n
