Photo: Hannah Shirley.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The second week of basketball action around the country stretched far and wide with schools from Kwazulu-Natal, Gauteng, and the Eastern Cape in action.<\/p>\n<p>In KZN, <strong>Kearsney College<\/strong> welcomed <strong>Glenwood High<\/strong> to <strong>The SportZone<\/strong> and dominated the visiting outfit from the jump ball.<\/p>\n<p>The visitors struggled to score, and Kearsney took advantage of their lack of defence, scoring a consistent 20 points in the first two quarters, while holding the visitors to single points in each quarter, to take an imposing 40-13 lead into the break.<\/p>\n<p>When the teams returned to the court after half-time, Kearsney ramped up their scoring, adding 30 points in the third quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Glenwood managed to double their half-time score, but they were well out of the contest.<\/p>\n<p>The clock was run in the fourth quarter to end the game quicker, which left Kearsney the handsome winner by an 87-30 margin.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Connor Grenfell<\/strong> (13), <strong>Lubanzi Mseleku<\/strong> (12), <strong>Lwandile Njapha<\/strong> (12), and <strong>Daniel Prinsloo<\/strong> (11) led from the front to see the hosts through to a big home win.<\/p>\n<p>In a clash of top teams, <strong>Northwood<\/strong>, playing at home, emerged victorious over <strong>Westville<\/strong>, winning by a 71-64 scoreline.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hilton College<\/strong> beat <strong>St Charles<\/strong> 69-64 in a tight clash, <strong>Durban High School<\/strong> saw off <strong>Michaelhouse<\/strong> 54-44, and <strong>Maritzburg College<\/strong> beat <strong>Clifton<\/strong> 78-34 as all the KZN winners won at home.<\/p>\n<p>In Gauteng, <strong>St Benedict&#8217;s<\/strong> recorded a 48-41 victory over <strong>St John&#8217;s<\/strong> in something of an upset. St John&#8217;s recently beat <em><strong>Bennies<\/strong><\/em>, on their way to winning <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/st-johns-college-and-soweto-basketball-academy-lift-aisj-basketball-titles\/\"><strong>the American International School of Johannesburg Basketball Tournament<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>St Alban&#8217;s<\/strong> beat <strong>Jeppe<\/strong> 60-53, in a tight defensive battle, <strong>St Stithians<\/strong> recorded a narrow 34-29 victory over <strong>St David&#8217;s,<\/strong> while the clash between <strong>King Edward VII (KES)<\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>Pretoria Boys High<\/strong> was also all about defence, with KES edging out PBHS 36-33.<\/p>\n<p>In the Eastern Cape, down in the windy city of Gqeberha, <strong>Grey High<\/strong> hosted <strong>Queen&#8217;s College<\/strong>, <strong>B-Blessed<\/strong>, and <strong>Kingswood College<\/strong>.
