The 49th edition of the Vides Water Polo Tournament<\/strong>, hosted by Selborne College<\/strong> in East London over the past weekend, concluded with St David’s Marist Inanda defeating St Andrew’s College 9-5<\/a><\/strong> in the final.<\/p>\n

The win saw St David’s claim their first piece of silverware in 2025 under the guidance of head coach Dean Whyte<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Both teams were superb during the tournament and reached the final unbeaten after dominating the pool stages and their knockout matches.<\/p>\n

Their dominance was reflected in the Team of the Tournament<\/strong>, which was announced after the final.<\/p>\n

Both had four players named in the 15-player squad, with St David’s talisman and Player of the Tournament<\/strong>, Cooper Haworth<\/strong>, headlining the team.<\/p>\n

Haworth was joined by his teammates Erik Arwidi<\/strong>, Danilo Giuricich,<\/strong> and goalkeeper, Dylan Wiggill<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

From St Andrew’s, skipper Coel Trollip<\/strong><\/a>, Thomas Owen-Jones<\/strong>, Jacques du Toit<\/strong>, and dangerman Calum Emslie <\/strong>also cracked the nod.<\/p>\n

The hosts also had four of their standout players named in the team.<\/p>\n

After they finished third for a second year running, Thomas Caswell<\/strong>, Liam Hansen<\/strong>, Samuel van der Venter,<\/strong> and Connor Maree<\/strong> earned selection.<\/p>\n

Last year’s champions, Clifton College<\/strong>, placed fourth. They had three of their players recognised for their efforts.<\/p>\n

Nathan Burger<\/strong>, who was part of the 2024 Team of the Tournament, was named once again, along with Daniel Nothard<\/strong>\u00a0and Jamie Nicolau<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
