There is a reason why Diocesan College<\/strong>‘s Adnaan Lagadien<\/strong> has represented South Africa at u19 level. He showed why on Friday.<\/p>\n

The opening batsman led Bishops<\/em><\/strong> to a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Clifton<\/strong> in a T20 clash on St Alban’s College’s TC Mitchell Oval<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

He capitalised on a pitch that had benefitted from a full morning of sun and a breeze, which helped to dry it out. On the back of the Bishops’ bowlers restricting the Durban school to only 86 all out, he led the run pursuit, scoring exactly half of his side’s runs.<\/p>\n

His 44 came at a run-a-ball and showcased his composure and maturity. James-Robb Quinlan<\/strong> supported him well, chipping in with an attractive 31 not out as Bishops won with four overs to spare.<\/p>\n

In the bowling department, Michael Kruiskamp<\/strong> deserves a special mention for his contribution of 3\/17, which laid the foundation for his side’s victory.<\/p>\n

In the match between Hilton College<\/strong> and St Benedict’s College,<\/strong> Hilton captain Ben Hockly<\/strong> set Cornwall Hill College<\/strong>‘s Van der Byl Oval<\/strong> alight with a classy knock, which set his side on course for a convincing seven-wicket victory.<\/p>\n

Although Bennies<\/strong><\/em>‘ Marco Mendes<\/strong> played a fine innings of 49, Hockly’s knock stole the spotlight. The opener paced his innings and the run chase exceptionally, which helped Hilton to victory after 17.4 overs.<\/p>\n

The Titans Invitation Hub XI<\/strong> impressed on Cornwall Hill’s Land’s End Oval<\/strong>, where they thumped Uplands College<\/strong> by nine wickets.<\/p>\n

Mohammad Borabat<\/strong> and Rehaan Patel<\/strong> ran through the side from Mpumalanga, sharing seven wickets between them for only 20 runs. Borabat’s contribution was an impactful 4\/11 from four overs, while Patel chipped in with the equally impressive figures of 3\/9, also from four.<\/p>\n

Prestige College<\/strong>‘s Lesedi Mabena <\/strong>led the Invitation team’s reply and stamped his authority early with the bat, smashing an unbeaten 35 as they chased down the small victory target of 53 with ease.<\/p>\n
