\"\"The Old Petrians’ Water Polo Tournament<\/strong>, after two days of all-out action, headed into the playoffs at the Wahoo Aquatic Centre<\/strong> and St Peter\u2019s Girls Prep Pool <\/strong>in Johannesburg on Saturday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When the water had settled, Roedean School <\/strong>and St Stithians College <\/strong>remained unbeaten after the four pools had completed their assignments. They’re favoured to reach the final, but nothing is certain.<\/p>\n

Coach Siyabonga Guzana<\/strong>‘s Roedean side topped Pool A with a maximum haul of 18 points, which means they went six for six without having to win any of their matches by a penalty shootout.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, St Stithians, the three-time champions and runner-up in 2024, compiled a perfect record in Pool C\u00a0 and also bagged 18 points.<\/p>\n

On Sunday morning, they take on Reddam House Constantia<\/strong> in the semi-finals, while Roedean will battle it out against Durban Girls’ College (DGC)<\/strong> for a place in the final.<\/p>\n

Saints<\/strong><\/em> will be chasing a second title of the season under coach Megan Sileno<\/strong> after capturing the National Aquatics title<\/strong> <\/a>at the start of the month. Their opponent in the title decider in East London was DGC, so a repeat of that final is, potentially, on the cards. Roedean, of course, will do everything in their power to prevent that from happening.<\/p>\n

In the last of the pool matches, Crawford Lonehill<\/strong> saw off the Eastern Cape’s Alexander Road<\/strong> 5-2 in a Pool A clash, while Roedean cruised to a 12-2 win over Rustenburg Girls’ High School<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In Pool B, Reddam House Constantia<\/strong> scored a convincing 11-4 victory over Hudson Park High School, while St Anne\u2019s Diocesan College<\/strong> kept Rand Park High School <\/strong>winless with a comfortable 18-3 victory. Collegiate Girls\u2019 High School<\/strong> beat Wynberg Girls’ High 7-1, with Aimee Pienaar<\/strong>,\u00a0Brigid Guest<\/strong>, Lara Heny<\/strong>, Angelica Loyson<\/strong>, Amy Botha<\/strong>, and Kate Brennan <\/strong>all making it onto the score sheet.<\/p>\n

St Stithians wrapped up their domination of Pool C with a 5-1 win over St Mary’s Waverley<\/strong>, and St Cyprian’s<\/strong> eased to a 12-1 defeat of Pretoria High School for Girls<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Herschel<\/strong> completed their Pool D matches with a convincing 12-1 win over fellow Capetonians, Springfield Convent School<\/strong>, while Pearson<\/strong> blanked Reddam House Helderfontein<\/strong> 8-0, and DGC took down St Dominic’s<\/strong> by a 7-3 margin.<\/p>\n

In a massive upset in the playoff, Makhanda’s Diocesan School for Girls (DSG)<\/strong> outplayed the defending champions, Herschel, with coach Wade Marshall<\/strong>‘s side recording an emphatic 8-0 victory.<\/p>\n

DSG subsequently fell to St Stithians in the quarterfinals, going down 4-6. Roedean, meanwhile, had to go the route of a penalty shootout for the first time after their showdown with Reddam House Bedfordview<\/strong> ended 6-6.<\/p>\n

In a KZN quarterfinals clash, DGC got by St Anne’s 8-6, and Reddam House Constantia sneaked by Clarendon<\/strong> on penalties after they had shared a 6-6 draw.<\/p>\n
