Their opener <strong>Reuben van Zyl<\/strong> (23) continued his good form, while <strong>Ben Cilliers<\/strong> (3\/9) and <strong>Kyle White<\/strong> (2\/6) caused the Pretoria side problems.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Northwood<\/strong>, who beat Graeme College in the morning,\u00a0needed to reach the victory target in 5.3 overs to secure a place in the playoffs, but they were bowled out for a mere 34 runs, with Echard Struwig (3\/8) and Zizwe Khumalo (2\/4) causing them all sorts of problems.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Cricket - Garsfontein vs Northwood - Schools SA20 National Finals - 13 March 2025\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qcXDGmHIAqQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In the morning session, Garsfontein beat <em><strong>Saints<\/strong> <\/em>by eight wickets, thanks to a half-century by Van Zyl (52) and excellent bowling by <strong>Ruan Coetzee<\/strong> (4\/17) and their captain, <strong>Xander Venter<\/strong> (2\/4).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Graeme College<\/strong> also advanced to the playoffs after picking up a bonus point in a win over St Andrew&#8217;s in a match reduced to only five overs a side. The Makhanda boys posted 43\/3 in their innings, led by Enrique Strydom&#8217;s effort (15*).<\/p>\n<p>Saints needed at least 34 runs in their run chase to keep Graeme College from claiming a bonus point and booking their place in the semi-final. However, the Bloemfontein boys mustered only 29\/6.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Cricket - Bishops vs Pearson High School - Schools SA20 National Finals - 13 March 2025\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LMtYj0Uzpgw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Diocesan College<\/strong> started their Schools SA20 Final Showdown campaign with an emphatic 142-run victory over <strong>Pearson<\/strong>, of Gqeberha.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bishops<\/strong>&#8216; <strong>Julian Pilkington<\/strong> (5\/6) was the star of the show, becoming the first bowler to claim a five-for in the tournament, which is being hosted by the <strong>University of Pretoria<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In their second outing, the Cape Town school suffered a seven-wicket defeat against <strong>Cricket South Africa&#8217;s Hub Invitational XI<\/strong> in a contest reduced to five overs per side.<\/p>\n<p>Bishops tallied 44\/3 in their five overs, with <strong>Adnaan Lagadien<\/strong> (14) making the biggest contribution.
