Photo: Frans Lombard.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Steyn City School<\/strong> delivered a message loudly and clearly to the rest of the teams on Thursday, the opening day of the girls&#8217; section of the <strong>Schools SA20<\/strong> National Finals at the <strong>University of Pretoria<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The side from Johannesburg&#8217;s South African women&#8217;s player <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/schools-sa20-profile-karabo-meso-steyn-city\/\"><strong>Karabo Meso<\/strong><\/a> showed her class with a solid unbeaten 26 runs as they defeated <strong>Victoria Hub<\/strong> by seven wickets.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, Meso <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/sa-u19-women-secure-icc-u19-womens-t20-world-cup-final-spot\/\">helped the national u19 side reach the final of the<\/a> ICC u19 Women&#8217;s World Cup <\/strong>in Malaysia. Her Steyn City teammate <strong>Diara Ramlakan<\/strong> was also part of the World Cup team.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jenna-Lee Lubbe<\/strong> (2\/13), who was the pick of the Steyn City bowling attack against Victoria Hub, was one of the non-travelling reserves for the national u19 side.<\/p>\n<p>Victoria Hub&#8217;s <strong>Imaan van Schalkwyk<\/strong> (14) made a start with the bat before being dismissed in the teens. The side from Cape Town&#8217;s <strong>Zaurah Titus<\/strong> (2\/17) can also feel happy about her performance with the ball in hand.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saints Christian School<\/strong>, from Potchefstroom, began their campaign with a four-wicket victory over <strong>Nkowankowa<\/strong> <strong>Hub<\/strong>, from Tzaneen.<\/p>\n<p>The star of the Saints&#8217; victory was their spin bowler and captain <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/schools-sa20-profile-tshegofatso-monyela-saints-christian-school\/\"><strong>Tshegofatso Monyela<\/strong><\/a>, who picked up four wickets at a cost of only five runs, which helped restrict Nkowankowa to only 33 runs.<\/p>\n<p>She was supported well by <strong>Siphumelele Duma<\/strong> (2\/7) and <strong>Gogontle Padi<\/strong> (2\/11), who also troubled the losing side&#8217;s batters with their bowling.<\/p>\n<p>For Nkowankowa, it was only <strong>Motlalepule Sebele<\/strong> (6*) and <strong>Faith Nkuna<\/strong> (6) who mustered even meagre scores in difficult conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Monyela (10) also top-scored with the bat for Saints, with <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/schools-sa20-profile-reabetswe-dithipe-saints-christian-school\/\"><strong>Reabetswe Dithipe<\/strong><\/a> (7) also chipping in. <strong>Motlalepule Sebele<\/strong> (2\/16) was the pick of the Nkowankowa bowling attack.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. JL Dube<\/strong> won by seven wickets over Nomandi in a low-scoring match.
