{"id":69093,"date":"2025-04-06T14:03:53","date_gmt":"2025-04-06T12:03:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=69093"},"modified":"2025-04-06T14:03:53","modified_gmt":"2025-04-06T12:03:53","slug":"dhs-and-glenwood-depth-stands-out-at-glenwood-rugby-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=69093","title":{"rendered":"DHS and Glenwood depth stands out at Glenwood Rugby Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_34754\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-34754\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-34754\" src=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/glenwood-110224-400x208.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: Brad Morgan.\" width=\"400\" height=\"208\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-34754\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Brad Morgan.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After six days of entertaining rugby in the 1<sup>st<\/sup> XV, 2nd XV, u16, u15, and u14 age groups, the annual <strong>Glenwood Rugby Festival<\/strong> came to a close in Durban, on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Durban High School (DHS)<\/strong> showed off their strength in depth, with a <strong>DHS Invitation XV<\/strong> beating <strong>Landboudal<\/strong> 36-17 on Tuesday before holding <strong>Transvalia<\/strong> to a 10-10 draw two days later. <strong><em>School<\/em><\/strong>&#8216;s 1<sup>st<\/sup> XV recently convincingly beat <strong>Kingswood College<\/strong> and <strong>Selborne College<\/strong> at the <strong>Standard Bank Grey High Rugby Festival<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Transvalia also cruised to a 45-9 victory over <strong>Vryheid Landbou<\/strong>, while <strong>Potchefstroom Volkskool<\/strong> went two for two, overpowering a <strong>KZN Select<\/strong> team 55-0 before claiming a hard-fought 18-7 win over Landboudal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jim Fouch\u00e9<\/strong> battled to a 40-26 win over <strong>DF Malan<\/strong> and edged out a <strong>Glenwood XV<\/strong> 15-13 in their second outing. <strong>Glenwood&#8217;s 1st XV<\/strong> was involved in a low-scoring tussle against <strong>HTS Middelburg<\/strong> but came away with a 7-5 win. HTS Middelburg followed up with a 27-9 defeat of DF Malan and won 31-10 against Landboudal.<\/p>\n<p>In the u14 matches, Glenwood and DHS ruled the roost. The hosts scored 100 points in two wins while conceding only seven, while DHS scored 101 and kept a clean sheet in both victories.<\/p>\n<p>HTS Middelburg claimed two KZN scalps in the u15 age group, beating a <strong>Westville Invitation XV<\/strong> 33-22 and <strong>Northwood<\/strong> 19-17, but they were swamped by DHS, who roared to a 41-0 win.
