{"id":70194,"date":"2025-04-17T20:44:38","date_gmt":"2025-04-17T18:44:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=70194"},"modified":"2025-04-17T20:44:38","modified_gmt":"2025-04-17T18:44:38","slug":"monnas-and-glenwood-share-the-spoils-westville-overpower-framesby","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.ssschoolsplus.co.za\/?p=70194","title":{"rendered":"Monnas and Glenwood share the spoils, Westville overpowers Framesby"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_70196\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-70196\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-70196\" src=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-04-17-at-17.05.38-400x267.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-70196\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Tap Light Edits<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In a see-saw affair, <strong>Ho\u00ebrskool Monument<\/strong> and <strong>Glenwood High School<\/strong> played out a thrilling 26-26 draw in the penultimate game of the opening day of the <strong>Standard Bank Kearsney College Easter Festival<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Both schools were well and truly up for this one, with neither enjoying a clear advantage in a game of very fine margins.<\/p>\n<p><em>The <strong>Green Machine<\/strong> <\/em>drew first blood when hooker <strong>Nkululeko Khumalo<\/strong> dotted down off the back of a strong rolling maul, before midfielder <strong>Tasliem Guyan<\/strong> responded for Monument.<\/p>\n<p>Hulking inside centre, <strong>Lizwe Mtetwa<\/strong>, then stormed over for Glenwood\u2019s second, but <em><strong>Monnas<\/strong> <\/em>again immediately hit back through <strong>Jason Joubert<\/strong> out wide.<\/p>\n<p>From there, an ensuing <strong>Sambesiwe Ndamase<\/strong> try meant it was the KZN outfit that took a 19-14 lead into halftime.<\/p>\n<p>The teams continued to trade blows in the second half, with Glenwood striking first to extend their lead through <strong>Rorisang Ngwenya<\/strong> before the <strong><em>Witbulle&#8217;<\/em>s Ayden van Zyl<\/strong> reduced the deficit.<\/p>\n<p>It was Monument substitute <strong>Jaydon Viljoen<\/strong> who had the final say in the contest, though, and he converted his own try with five-and-a-half minutes on the clock to grab a share of the spoils for his team.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Rugby - Glenwood High School vs Ho\u00ebrskool Monument - Kearsney Easter Rugby Festival - 17 April 2025\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NH8EtWrdQkc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Westville Boys&#8217; High <\/strong>eased to a comfortable 31-0 win over <strong>Ho\u00ebrskool Framesby<\/strong> in the final game of the opening day.<\/p>\n<p>Framesby struggled to get any real purchase in the collisions, with Westville outmuscling their Gqeberha opponents and shutting down their attack.<\/p>\n<p>In truth, had Westville been more clinical, they may well have racked up an even bigger scoreline, and that&#8217;s something they will address as tougher tests await them.<\/p>\n<p>The KZN team scored their first through hooker <strong>Langalihle Mncwango<\/strong> via a driving maul, before his namesake, <strong>Bandile Mncwango<\/strong>, crossed the chalk for their second, which gave the <em><strong>Griffin<\/strong> <\/em>a 12-0 lead at halftime.<\/p>\n<p>The second half saw Westville hampered by further inaccurate moments, which thwarted their efforts with the ball in hand. Still, they added two tries in quick succession through their flying left wing <strong>Avumile Lisa<\/strong> and the big second rower <strong>Lwandile Simelane<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The electric Lisa showed off his impressive speed again to bag his second later on, and while Framesby enjoyed some territorial advantage and possession in the latter parts of the contest, they were unable to make it count. Westville was able to steal a number of their lineout throws, and the game eventually fizzled out.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SCORERS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Westville Boys&#8217; High 31 (12) &#8211;<\/strong> Tries: Avumile Lisa (2), Langalihle Mncwango, Bandile Mncwango, Lwandile Simelane.
