After a week\u2019s break and some time out to reboot and energise, Grey High School<\/strong> returns to the turf this weekend when they travel to face Queen’s College<\/strong>, in Komani, on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Selborne College<\/strong> will face the stern examination when they take on St Andrew’s College<\/strong>, in Makhanda, at the Webster AstroTurf<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Grey High scored a solid 3-1 victory over Wynberg Boys’ High<\/a><\/strong>, in Gqeberha.<\/p>\n

Coach Andrew Beynon<\/strong>‘s squad went into that clash off the back of a disappointing Hibbert Shield<\/a> <\/strong>campaign, but they put that behind them and put on a good show in front of a big Reunion Day crowd.<\/p>\n

James Chree<\/a><\/strong>, Jordyn Billie<\/strong>, and captain Luke Tait<\/strong> were the names on the scoresheet on that occasion. It was, also, a special occasion for Athi Voigt<\/strong> and Liam Poole<\/strong>, who both reached 50 games for the 1st XI.<\/p>\n

The boys in blue and white then turned their attention to a mid-week clash against Kingswood College<\/strong>, in Makhanda.<\/p>\n

Grey dominated and despite failing to capitalise on many of the chances they created, they walked away with a 4-0 victory, courtesy of a brace by Tait, with Keegan\u00a0le Roux<\/strong> and Luke Malherbe<\/strong> also scoring.<\/p>\n

Over the bye weekend, Grey’s players stayed active by participating in the school\u2019s annual Hockey Slam, <\/strong>a fundraising event that allows teams to play for different franchises and challenge for the title. They’ll be eager to get back on the park against a tricky Queen’s College side.<\/p>\n

Queen’s has endured mixed fortunes over the past two weeks. Last Friday, they were on the receiving end of a hefty 1-5 loss against St Andrew’s College<\/a><\/strong>, while they defeated Dale College<\/strong> 4-2 the week before.<\/p>\n

Playing in front of their supporters at the Chris Harker AstroTurf<\/strong> could just be the push coach Michael Baiden<\/strong>‘s side needs to pull off a major upset.<\/p>\n

Selborne College will also be on the road this weekend as they travel to face St Andrew’s College in Makhanda.<\/p>\n

The boys in black and white got their season back on track with an emphatic 5-1 triumph over Dale College in East London last week.<\/p>\n

All five goals were scored by their talisman, Reid Drake<\/a><\/strong>, who has been in sublime form for coach KJ Friend’<\/strong>s side.<\/p>\n

They won’t have it easy, though, against a tough St Andrew’s side that has proved to be a handful for many teams in the province and beyond its boundaries this season.<\/p>\n

In May alone, they’ve overpowered Pearson High<\/strong> 3-1 and thumped Queen’s 5-1. Home ground advantage could further benefit the boys from Makhanda as they continue to assert themselves as one of the top sides in the Eastern Cape.<\/p>\n

In other matches, Hudson Park<\/strong>, after playing to a 4-4 draw with Victoria Park<\/strong> and losing 0-4 against Pearson<\/strong>, will be chasing a bounce-back performance against Merrifield College<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

For a second consecutive week, Dale travels to East London. This time, they face Cambridge High School<\/strong>, and Stirling<\/strong> welcomes Kingswood College<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
