Paul Roos Gimnasium (PRG)<\/strong> and South African College High School (SACS)<\/strong> will reignite their rivalry when they square off in a Hyundai Friday Nite Lights<\/strong> clash in Stellenbosch this week.<\/span><\/p>\n

The meeting between the two of the giants of South African schoolboy hockey will be, arguably, the most anticipated match of the season.<\/span><\/p>\n

It will be broadcast live on SuperSport Schools, <\/a>DStv Channel 216<\/strong>, and on the SABC Plus App<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It’s an encounter that’s gripped the imagination of hockey enthusiasts in the country. Many regard it as a clash of the <\/span>top two sides.<\/span><\/p>\n

With the build-up <\/span>and excitement intensifying, SuperSport Schools Hockey<\/a><\/strong> scribe <\/span>Avuyile Sawula looks at everything you need to know about the clash.<\/span><\/p>\n

Venue and Time<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Paul Roos and SACS meet twice annually, except when playing each other in tournaments.<\/span><\/p>\n

This year’s first in-season clash will <\/span>take place<\/span> at the Maties AstroTurf<\/strong>, in Stellenbosch, on Friday, 30 May, <\/span>and<\/span> pushback is at 19:15<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

How has each team fared ahead of the match?<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Both sides have had <\/span>interesting<\/span> seasons so far and recorded impressive results while playing exciting <\/span>brands of hockey<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The home side, PRG, has suffered just one loss, and it came against SACS after a shootout in the <\/span>semi-finals<\/a><\/strong> of the Standard Bank Hibbert Shield<\/strong>, in Gqeberha, earlier this month.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aside from that defeat, coach Michael Baker<\/strong>‘s troops have run rampant against their opponents, and their last outing resulted in a 2-0 win over Paarl Boys’ High<\/a><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

As for SACS, they had an unorthodox<\/span> start to the local season because they toured <\/span>The<\/span> Netherlands before taking on South African opposition.<\/span><\/p>\n

After returning to South Africa, they picked up from where they left off in 2024, dominating every team <\/span>in front of them up<\/span> until the Hibbert Shield.<\/span><\/p>\n

They breezed through their group stage opponents in Gqeberha but <\/span>were tested<\/span> by PRG in the semis, with that game finishing 3-3 after regulation <\/span>time. SACS won the Hibbert Shield by outplaying Paarl Gimnasium<\/a><\/strong> 6-3 in the final.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both teams are <\/span>in red-hot form<\/span> heading into this one.<\/span><\/p>\n
