Photo: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TeamphotoSA\/\"><strong>TeamPhotoSA<\/strong><\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The <strong>2025 u16 Girls&#8217; SASHOC National Week <\/strong>concluded on <strong>Hilton College<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Mansergh Astro <\/strong>on Sunday, with <strong>KwaZulu-Natal Coastal A <\/strong>being crowned the national champion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>KZN Coastal A <\/strong>and <strong>Eastern Province (EP) A<\/strong> put together exceptional runs through the group stages, although EP&#8217;s run of wins was halted in their last pool stage outing when <strong>Southern Gauteng<\/strong> scored a surprise 2-0 victory.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>KZN Coastal<\/strong> girls, though, enjoyed a perfect run. They went a perfect five from five in their group games and then won the semi-final and final to finish with seven wins from seven outings.<\/p>\n<p>They started with a 3-0 win over<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">the <strong>KZN Coastal B<\/strong> side before edging out their neighbours, <strong>KZN Inland A<\/strong>, 1-0 in their second game<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Coach <strong>Yoche Blair&#8217;<\/strong>s side maintained their solid form, with a 4-2 win over <strong>Boland B<\/strong> before an even more convincing 3-0 defeat of <strong>Boland A<\/strong>. They were pushed hard by <strong>Northern Gauteng A <\/strong>but came away with a 2-1 win in their last group match.<\/p>\n<p>In the semi-finals, they brushed aside <strong>Western Province<\/strong>, winning 3-1. On Sunday, in the title-decider, they produced a convincing 4-2 win over Eastern Province, the defending champions.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Hockey Final - u16 Eastern Province vs u16 KZN Coastal - Girls SA Schools Hockey - 13 July 2025\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UqQcY50l-M4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Charley-Rose Boyall<\/strong>, the tournament&#8217;s top goal scorer, with nine, rose to the occasion, scoring twice to lead her team from the front. <strong>Asanele Zuma<\/strong> and <strong>Zenokuhle Mbhele<\/strong> also added their names to the scoresheet as the local lasses dominated.<\/p>\n<p>Eastern Province A, who had looked unstoppable for much of the tournament, showed heart and fight in the final. <strong>Lucy Holderness<\/strong> and <strong>Kiyara Constable<\/strong> both netted, but KZN Coastal enjoyed the edge throughout.<\/p>\n<p>Boland A claimed third place after beating Western Province A in a penalty shootout. Initially, their playoff ended in a 1\u20131 draw after a tight encounter in which <strong>Nicola van der Merwe<\/strong> scored for Boland and <strong>Bea van den Berg<\/strong> netted for Western Province.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Daniella<\/strong> <strong>Grobbelaar<\/strong> scored the only goal of the game as Northern Gauteng A edged out KZN Inland A 1-0 to take fifth place.<\/p>\n<p>Seventh went to Southern Gauteng A. They shared a goalless draw with <strong>Southern Free State A<\/strong> but then triumphed 4-2 in a penalty shootout.<\/p>\n<p>It was tight in the battle for ninth and tenth, which was also decided after a shootout. KZN Coastal B and Boland B drew 1-1, with <strong>Isabella Slater<\/strong> scoring for Coastal and <strong>Mine\u0301 King <\/strong>doing the trick for Boland.
