Just two years ago, Paarl Boys’ High<\/strong> took on South African College High School<\/strong> (SACS) in the final of the Cape Town International Hockey Tournament<\/a><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

In that fixture, SACS reigned supreme at the Hartleyvale A<\/strong> Stadium, beating their opponents 4-1 to retain the title they had won two years in a row. <\/span><\/p>\n

A year later, in 2024, SACS was dethroned and beaten<\/span> by Paarl Gimnasium in the final<\/a><\/strong>, while Paarl Boys’ High, affectionately known as Boishaai<\/em><\/strong>, finished in 11th place.<\/p>\n

A lot has changed in the past 12 months, however, and both sides have a chance of playing themselves into the final after booking their semi-final places on Thursday, day two of the tournament in the Mother City. <\/span><\/p>\n

SACS will take on Ho\u00ebrskool Outeniqua<\/strong> in the first semi at Hartleyvale A before Boishaai tackles Reddam House Constantia<\/strong> at the Hartleyvale B AstroTurf at 19:45.<\/span><\/p>\n

Road to the last four<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The journey to the semifinals was smooth for SACS and Boishaai, who dominated their respective Pools on the opening day.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then, on Thursday, SACS added a 3-0 win over Windhoek Afrikaanse Private School<\/strong> and a 4-0 defeat of the UK’s Reed’s School<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Daniel Graser<\/strong>, Litha Kraai<\/strong>, and Josh Goulding<\/strong> were on the scoresheet against Windhoek. Kraai, as usual, was at it again in the win over Reed’s, netting a brace, while <\/span>Graser scored once more, and Troy Loots<\/strong> made it four.<\/span><\/p>\n

For Boys\u2019 High, it was business as usual in their final pool match against Windhoek High School<\/strong>, with Laubscher van Loggerenberg<\/strong>, Alex Lategan<\/strong>, and Mijan Herholdt <\/strong>scoring in a 3-0 victory.<\/span><\/p>\n

They <\/span>were made<\/span> to sweat in their cross-pool playoff against St George’s Weybridge<\/strong>, another of the sizeable UK contingent competing in the CTIHT. <\/span><\/p>\n

The match ended<\/span> 1<\/span>-1<\/span>, which sent the contest to a penalty <\/span>shootout. Paarl Boys’ High held their nerve and came away with a 3-1 win.<\/span><\/p>\n

Outeniqua and Reddam House Constantia also had to work hard to make it through to the final four.<\/span><\/p>\n

After a disappointing showing in the group stage, Outeniqua stunned Durbanville<\/strong> 1-0 in their cross-pool playoff game to set up a date with SACS.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wehan Meyer<\/strong> was the hero for the boys from George after finding the back of the net and putting in a man-of-the-match performance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reddam, like Boys\u2019 High, took the road less travelled after they played to a 2-2 draw with Parel Vallei High School<\/strong> (PV) in their cross-pool clash.<\/span><\/p>\n

Skipper Joe Gitlin<\/strong> and Max Godden<\/strong> netted for Reddam, while Sashin Pillay<\/strong> and Luca Jordan<\/strong> scored for PV.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was tight in the penalty shootout, but Reddam edged it 3-2 to progress to the semi-finals.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Evolve section<\/strong> semifinals will <\/span>be contested<\/span> by Curro Durbanville<\/strong> and Windhoek’s St Paul’s College<\/strong> before the favourite, Bridge House<\/strong>, takes on HTS Drostdy<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n

After Friday’s<\/span> matches<\/span>, the players will have a rest day on Saturday and return on Sunday for the final day.<\/span><\/p>\n
