Photo: <a href=\"https:\/\/web.facebook.com\/photo\/?fbid=1377475780891425&amp;set=pb.100058870481528.-2207520000\"><strong>Selborne College on Facebook.<\/strong><\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The past week delivered some memorable football highlights, including <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/northern-academy-lifts-the-inaugural-curro-halala-cup\/\"><strong>Northern Academy<\/strong><\/a> lifting the <strong>Curro Halala Cup<\/strong>, and the home team claiming the <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/st-davids-marist-inanda-keeps-nedbank-challenge-cup-trophy-at-home\/\"><strong>St David&#8217;s Nedbank Challenge Cup<\/strong><\/a> on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>It was also a memorable week for <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/100-up-for-maritzburg-colleges-mazithi-qasha\/\"><strong>Mazithi Qasha<\/strong><\/a>, the vice-captain and most trusted goal poacher for <strong>Maritzburg College<\/strong>, who, once again, was in the limelight.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, 2 August, he made his 100th appearance for the Red, Black, and White, scoring twice in a 3-0 win over Alexandra High to commemorate the occasion in style. That brace his total to 89 goals for the College 1st XI.<\/p>\n<p>Then, on Wednesday, he added another pair to help College to a 3-2 victory over <strong>Howick High School.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This past Saturday, Qasha struck twice more against <strong>Westville Boys&#8217; High School<\/strong>, with Westville sharpshooter, <strong>Dayyan Fudu<\/strong>, matching the College vice-captain with a pair of his own as the schools shared a 2-2 draw.<\/p>\n<p>Fudu, who was recently in Spain for an assessment and trial with the <strong>Levante UD Academy<\/strong>, netted just four seconds into the match and added his second in the tenth minute.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mancosa KZNHSFA Cowie Cup<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the week, the <strong>Mancosa KwaZulu-Natal High Schools Football Association (KZNHSFA) Cowie Cup<\/strong> took centre stage in the province, with <strong>Reddam House Umhlanga<\/strong> making a huge impact in the last 32 by powering to a commanding 6-0 victory against <strong>Waterfall College<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_80212\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-80212\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-80212\" src=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Reddam-House-Umhlanga-400x310.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"310\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-80212\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Reddam House Umhlanga, depicted earlier in August following their 2-1 victory against Curro Hillcrest. Photo: <a href=\"https:\/\/web.facebook.com\/ReddamHouseUmhlanga\"><strong>Reddam House Umhlanga on Facebook<\/strong><\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Queensburgh High <\/strong>defeated <strong>Kloof High<\/strong> 3-1, while <strong>Northwood<\/strong> scored a decisive 4-0 win over <strong>Ashton Ballito<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/brettonwood-crowned-the-champions-of-kzn-coastal-c-league\/\"><strong>Brettonwood<\/strong><\/a>, whose star is on the rise after the school earned promotion from the <strong>KZN Coastal C-League<\/strong> to the <strong>Coastal B-League<\/strong>, took another step forward by cruising to a 6-0 win over <strong>Thomas More College<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Following a disappointing run in the second term, <strong>Alexandra High School<\/strong> handed <strong>Redwood College<\/strong> a 2-1 defeat to move on to the last 16 of the Cowie Cup.<\/p>\n<p>The Coastal A-League champion, Westville, showcased their strength in the Cowie Cup with an impressive 4-2 victory over <strong>Amanzimtoti<\/strong>, while <strong>Carter High<\/strong>, the runner-up of the <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/maritzburg-college-crowned-kzn-inland-a-league-champion\/\"><strong>Inland A-League<\/strong><\/a>, swept to a 5-0 win over <strong>Sastri College<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mangaung Region &#8211; Kay Motsepe Semifinals and Final<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Free State&#8217;s <strong>Mangaung Schools Football League<\/strong> concluded qualifying for the <strong>Kay Motsepe Schools Cup, <\/strong>with the semifinals taking place on Tuesday and the finals on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, <strong>HTS Louis Botha<\/strong> picked up a narrow 1-0 victory over <strong>Kyrios Independent School<\/strong> in the first semifinal. In the shootout, HTS Louis Botha displayed precision to claim a 5-4 victory after Grassland missed a critical penalty, securing them a place against other regional champions from across South Africa in the Kay Motsepe Schools Cup.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eastern Cape\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the Eastern Cape, a highlight of the week was a showdown on Friday between <strong>Selborne College<\/strong> and <strong>Dale College<\/strong>.\u00a0The win went Selborne&#8217;s way by a tight 2-1 margin. .<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, in the East London High Schools Football League, <strong>Stutterheim High<\/strong>, the reigning champion, recorded a 2-1 victory over <strong>Cathcart High<\/strong>.
