Photo: <a href=\"https:\/\/web.facebook.com\/JeppeBoys\"><strong>Jeppe High School for Boys on Facebook.<\/strong><\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Another week of captivating football unfolded throughout South Africa, with <strong>Jeppe High School for Boys, Grey College<\/strong> and <strong>Northwood School<\/strong> maintaining their impressive performances.<\/p>\n<p><strong>KZN: Mancosa Cowie Cup<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Alexandra High School<\/strong>, who weren&#8217;t at their best during <strong>Mancosa<\/strong> <strong>KZNHSFA Second-Term League<\/strong>, is one of the sides that has picked up their performances and executed a turnaround in the third term.<\/p>\n<p>During the week, <em><strong>Alex<\/strong><\/em> pulled off a 2-1 win over <strong>Port Shepstone High<\/strong> to advance to the semifinals of the <strong>Mancosa Cowie Cup<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Carter High School<\/strong>, who lost out to their local rival <strong>Maritzburg College<\/strong> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/maritzburg-college-crowned-kzn-inland-a-league-champion\/\"><strong>KZNHSFA Inland A-League<\/strong><\/a> final, defeated<strong> Greytown<\/strong> 4-2 in a penalty shootout following a 0-0 draw in regulation time of their quarterfinals&#8217; clash.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Northwood&#8217;s astonishing renaissance continued with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over <strong>Westville Boys&#8217; High <\/strong>in a derby fixture, while they advanced in the Cowie Cup after a 2-0 win over <strong>Queensburgh High<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_82539\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-82539\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-82539 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/College-2nd-Team-400x242.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"242\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-82539\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Maritzburg College&#8217;s second team secured a 2-0 win on Saturday against Northwood, while the College 1st XI made it to the final of the <span class=\"cf0\">Jody <\/span><span class=\"cf0\">Mompl\u00e9<\/span><span class=\"cf0\"> Cup<\/span>. Photo: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Maritzcollege\"><strong>Maritzburg College on Facebook. <\/strong><\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>One quarterfinal match is outstanding, with Maritzburg College, who won the Plate in the <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/pinetown-boys-high-lifts-kloof-high-football-tournament-title\/\"><strong>Kloof High School National Football Tournament<\/strong> <\/a>and claimed the KZNHSFA Inland A-League title earlier this year, set to face the <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/brettonwood-crowned-the-champions-of-kzn-coastal-c-league\/\"><strong>KZN Coastal C-League champions, Brettonwood<\/strong><\/a> this week.<\/p>\n<p>The winner will take on Northwood in the semi-finals, while it&#8217;s Alexandra versus Carter in an all-Pietermaritzburg clash in the other semi.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Selborne College wins East London High Schools Football League<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Selborne College&#8217;s resilience and determination were rewarded in the <strong>B Block BWFLA High Schools League,<\/strong> also known as the <strong>East London High Schools Football League<\/strong>, which started in mid-March and concluded on 1 September.<\/p>\n<p>They topped the table with 47 points, comfortably clear of the defending champion, <strong>Stutterheim High<\/strong>, who ended their campaign in second place, with 39 points.<\/p>\n<p>In the league&#8217;s last match, <strong>Hudson Park High<\/strong> signed off with a 2-1 win over\u00a0<strong>George Randell High<\/strong> 2-1.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_82550\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-82550\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-82550 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Selborne-College-400x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-82550\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Selborne College was crowned the winner of the East London High Schools Football League champion. Photo:<a href=\"https:\/\/web.facebook.com\/SelborneCollege\"><strong> Selborne College on Facebook.<\/strong><\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Free State: Grey College lifts the Regional League<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the <strong>Magnificent Wednesday Football League<\/strong>, the semi-finals were contested on Monday, with <strong>Grey College<\/strong> surviving a tricky assignment by beating <strong>Navalsig High<\/strong> 2-0 to reach the final.<\/p>\n<p>They took on <strong>Grassland Secondary School<\/strong>, 3-0 winners over <strong>Hodisa Technical Secondary School<\/strong> in the semifinals, for the title and it was Grey who captured the silverware after a 3-1 win.<\/p>\n<p>The Bloemfontein school is also preparing for the draw of the annual <strong>Nedbank Grey College Soccer Tournament<\/strong>, which will be hosted at Grey on Wednesday, 10 September. The prestigious tournament takes place in October.<\/p>\n<p>In 2024, <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/st-stithians-successfully-defends-nedbank-grey-soccer-tournament-title\/\"><strong>St Stithians College<\/strong><\/a> successfully defended the title, defeating <strong>Robinvale High<\/strong> 2-1 in the final.<\/p>\n<p>In Gauteng, <strong>King Edward VII School (KES)<\/strong> pulled off a 1-0 victory over <strong>Parktown Boys&#8217; High<\/strong> on Wednesday. The following day, Jeppe High School for Boys continued their strong season with a 4-1 victory over <strong>Fourways High School<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Jeppe&#8217;s been on a good run, building on an already strong 2024 campaign, which earned them an invitation to the <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/what-makes-the-absa-wildeklawer-soccer-tournament-unique\/\"><strong>2025 Absa Wildeklawer Soccer Tournament<\/strong><\/a> where they went up against some of the finest teams in the country, with <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/virginia-highs-absa-wildeklawer-win-is-a-hot-topic-in-virginia\/\"><strong>Virginia High School<\/strong><\/a> claiming the title.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, in an exclusive interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/football\"><strong>SuperSport Schools Plus<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/kevin-mccarthy-talks-about-the-rise-of-jeppe-football\/\"><strong>Kevin McCarthy<\/strong><\/a>, the <strong>Head of Football<\/strong> at Jeppe, discussed the school&#8217;s growing football programme and the success it has brought.<\/p>\n<p>Jeppe&#8217;s excellence is visible across all age groups, which was recently underlined at the <strong>St Andrew&#8217;s College Football Cup<\/strong>, in Makhanda, where <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/bishops-lifts-st-andrews-college-football-cup-jeppe-the-junior-champs\/\"><strong>Jeppe&#8217;s u15 team<\/strong><\/a> secured the junior title, while the u19 crown went to <strong>Bishops Diocesan College<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In July, during the <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/gauteng-schools-dazzle-on-day-two-of-the-apbsa-football-festival\/\"><strong>Association of Public Boys&#8217; Schools of South Africa (APBSA) Football Festival<\/strong><\/a>, Jeppe&#8217;s first team was one of the standout teams, concluding the event undefeated with two victories and two draws.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, at the recent <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/st-davids-marist-inanda-keeps-nedbank-challenge-cup-trophy-at-home\/\"><strong>St David&#8217;s Marist Inanda Nedbank Challenge<\/strong>,<\/a> Jeppe performed admirably but was eliminated in the semifinals and also fell short in the bronze playoff, losing 0-1 to KES. Photo:<a href=\"https:\/\/web.facebook.com\/StAndrewsCollegeMakhanda\"><strong> St Andrew&#8217;s College on Facebook.<\/strong><\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Following the tournament at St David&#8217;s, McCarthy said that, overall, Jeppe delivered a decent showing. &#8220;We came 14th last year, so it\u2019s decent progress, even though I believe we could have won it,&#8221; he reckoned<\/p>\n<p>In another midweek fixture, in Mpumalanga, <strong>Uplands College<\/strong> and <strong>Beaulieu College<\/strong> settled for a 2-2 draw.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, Jeppe concluded a flawless week with a 2-0 victory over Pretoria Boys High. Beaulieu College, though, had to settle for a second 2-2 draw, this time against <strong>Penryn College<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In an intense clash, <strong>St David&#8217;s Marist Inanda<\/strong> and KES shared a goalless draw.<\/p>\n<p><strong>St John&#8217;s College<\/strong>, who had last played a match in August, returned to the field for a friendly at <strong>St Alban&#8217;s College<\/strong>. That, too, ended in a draw, 1-1.<\/p>\n<p>In KZN, most of the weekend&#8217;s attention was on the <a href=\"https:\/\/ssschoolsplus.co.za\/michaelhouse-are-back-to-back-jody-momple-cup-champs\/\"><strong><span class=\"cf0\">Jody <\/span><span class=\"cf0\">Mompl\u00e9<\/span><span class=\"cf0\"> Cup<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, which <strong>Michaelhouse<\/strong> won for a second year in succession.
