Schools’ football in the third term is gradually winding down after a highly competitive season.<\/p>\n

For some schools, the past weekend’s matches were their last of the year.\u00a0Meanwhile, others are preparing for forthcoming events, including the Nedbank Grey College Soccer Tournament<\/strong> and the St Peter’s College Sport and Cultural Festival.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last week, Jeppe High Schools for Boys’ <\/strong>impressive season continued with another win, this time by a slim 1-0 margin over St Benedict’s College<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jeppe, playing with a young squad, has been one of the success stories of 2025, and the school has aspirations of raising the standards of its football programme to match the success of their outstanding hockey first team.<\/p>\n

St John’s College<\/strong>, after recently ending a long break from competitive football, picked up a 1-0 win over their neighbours, King Edward VII School (KES)<\/strong>. Earlier this month, St John’s College returned to action with a 1-1 draw at St Alban’s College<\/strong>. They also added a 1-0 win over Parktown Boys’ High<\/strong> in a midweek match.<\/p>\n

Next on the schedule for St John’s is a mid-week outing against Springs Boys’ High<\/strong>, with the schools meeting across all age groups.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, St David’s Marist Inanda<\/strong> was held to a 1-1 draw by Pretoria Boys High<\/strong>. That followed a 0-0 draw with KES earlier in the month month.<\/p>\n

In KwaZulu-Natal, Maritzburg College<\/strong> faced off against the champions of the Primo Big 10<\/strong>, Hilton College<\/strong><\/a>, on Zungu Field<\/strong>, at Hilton College.<\/p>\n

In a closely contested match, the Red, Black<\/strong><\/em>, and White<\/strong><\/em> controlled possession from the opening whistle and were rewarded for that dominance with the opening goal from Sphelele Sibiya<\/strong>. Hilton, though, equalised just before the break.<\/p>\n

Early in the second half, Sibiya, who was in exceptional form, provided an assist for Lwandile Mkhize<\/strong> to score College’s second goal in a 2-1 victory.<\/p>\n

Maritzburg College returns to action on Friday against Northwood<\/strong> in the semifinals of the Mancosa KZNHSFA Cowie Cup<\/strong>, while Alexandra High School<\/strong> takes on Carter High School<\/strong> in a Pietermaritzburg derby in the other final four clash.<\/p>\n

In Pietermaritzburg, St Charles College<\/strong> and Kearsney College<\/strong> engaged in a fierce match that was decided in the final moments by Alckmin Simone<\/strong>, who came off the bench to net the decisive goal for Saints<\/strong><\/em> off a deflected shot. With the win, St Charles remained unbeaten at home, on Harwin, this season.<\/p>\n

Westville Boys’ High<\/strong>, who had been through a somewhat patchy run of form, which included exiting the Cowie Cup in the round of 16, got back to winning ways by defeating Durban High School<\/strong> 2-0.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, the meeting of Michaelhouse<\/strong> and Clifton College<\/strong> in Balgowan was rained out, and Northwood<\/strong> versus Glenwood<\/strong> was called off because of lightning.<\/p>\n

In the Eastern Cape, St Andrew’s College<\/strong> hosted Alexander Road <\/strong>and scored a 2-1 win.<\/p>\n
